Pulled over too many times to count, probably in the 20's by now. Would be closer to or over 30 if I didn't "avoid being stopped" :suspect:

Even with all the stops my record is "clean." I have never had points on my license, even while some of my pull overs were for 93 in a 70, 65 in a 35, 85 in a 55, etc. LOL

My last pullover actually happened while driving the work truck. 75 in a 55. I immediately pulled over and the cop was like, "I wish I didn't have to give you a ticket since you pulled over and waited on me, but if I didn't give you some sort of a ticket my boss would have my butt on a platter." LOL

My worst was on my '91 Kawasaki ZX-11 back in 1994. I was riding with my girlfriend and a friend of ours. We were on our way to Wisconsin to meet up with some more riding buddies and find some nice twisty country roads. We were going down a section of highway when my buddy starts accelerating hard. I figure I'll just keep up, so we got up to about 160 or so. He slows down to take the turn to cross the St. Croix river over into Wisconsin, and the light turns yellow and red. He runs it, and I didn't and my girlfriend stopped beside me.

About 30 seconds later a cop comes flying up behind us and stops in the left turn lane behind us. The light turns green, we make the left turn and he flips on the cherries and pulls us over. He said something along the lines of "I radared you way back there going 70 in a 55. I had to haul ass just to catch up to you, so I know you were going a lot faster than that, but I'm going to give you tickets for the 70 in a 55."

Got the tickets, rode across the bridge into Wisconsin and our buddy is parked at the gas station with the rest of our group waiting for us. He saw the cop and decided he was going to book it, but didn't bother to signal to us about the cop or anything.

Oh well... I was happy to just get the 70 in a 55. I was quite a bit younger then, and insurance on a 1100cc sportbike wasn't cheap to begin with. I can't imagine how bad it would've gotten had he written the ticket for even higher.

Back home in Norway we didn't stop.. we did a lot of stupid shit back then.. wisened up a bit since then. My cousin, however, rode home from winning the Scandinavian championship in drag racing on bikes (she did both roadracing and drag racing). On the way home she got pulled over and the first words out of her mouth were "Man I'm glad you didn't pull me over a few miles further back!" Yeah... she lost her license for a while.. haha!

My only ticket that I got in Wisconsin was when I lived in Fond du Lac. Was around 4 am and running late to work so I was on an empty side road going about 65 mph, posted speed was 35. Slowed down to about 55 to go around a bend and that is when they caught me. Was only like a $80 fine and a point on my license. That was back in 2007/2008.

In 2009/2010 my wife got a ticket in Madison, WI when we lived there. 40 in a 35.

Only tickets we have ever had despite being pulled over multiple times.

When I was younger I used to "run" as well. One time I was doing about 100 in a 55 when I flew by a cop. Saw his lights go on and just took the next freeway exit around the bend and was off the freeway before he came around the bend.

Yesterday afternoon I had to drive a work vehicle down to Ogden UT and back, on the way back it was pouring rain about 20 miles outside Idaho Falls and there was 3 separate wrecks on the side of I-15, at least 2 of them were rollovers. I'd already slowed down due to visibility issues, I guess they hadn't and hit sleet or something :d ontknow:

This reminded me of one of my stops. Long story short, I had just gotten the Stealth back on the road and drove it about 80 miles away despite the registration and inspection being expired.

I was coming home the next day and a Civic wanted to go, so I went. Speed was well into the triple digits when I let off. A few miles down the road a cop is creeping up on me. After a few minutes he lights me up and I thought I was going to jail.

He approached the car VERY slowly, removed his glove, touched the rear quarter panel of the car, and had his other hand on his pistol. The first words out of his mouth "Is this your car?" I said, "Yes sir it is."

He eased up a little and informed me that my tags and inspection were out of date, all while I am thinking to myself, "Damn I am glad he didn't see me racing."

I put a few mods on the Corvette... Nothing performance wise, but put on the Chevy rock deflectors and switched out the dash.

Funny thing is that the rock deflectors are identical to the panels that come on the car, but just hang outside the wheel well maybe 1/2" to 1" at the most. It is barely visible, but it has a huge effect of blocking rocks getting thrown at the paint behind the wheel. Stupid that they didn't just include them on all Stingrays. My Z51 picks up and throws every fucking loose molecule on the road. It is insane...

Today I was going to work on the Spyder, but my factory option carbon fiber dash showed up yesterday, so I did that instead. Looks great! Damn GM torx 15 security screws were a problem. I didn't have the right bit, so I ended up using a U2.6 bit instead (it is basically a narrow flathead with the center section notched out, so two pins). That sort of fit enough to take the entertainment/temp controls off the old dash, but putting them on the new dash I couldn't get enough torque on the screws to get them in all the way. I went to Home Depot and got a security Torx set, and the holes in those weren't large enough to fit over the security pin on the screws. Tried to drill it out and broke my bit in it. Ended up using a flathead 2.0 wedged around the pin and was able to complete it with that...

...and put the dash all back together. Then realized I forgot to plug in the wiring harness for the emergency flashers and airbag status lights. Fuck. Took it all back apart and plugged it in and put it back together again. Not really difficult, but time consuming to do it without breaking/scratching anything.

You forget this is a GM car, so stuff like that isn't BMW pricing. To have the kit installed from the factory is $900, and I paid $495 for the dash on eBay. ;)

My wife was surprised I was pulling it apart also, oops. She was supposed to be out doing her own thing all day. It is all just trim clips, 7mm bolts, and a few torx screws. Nothing very risky if you take your time and use proper trim tools.

True on both points lol. I actually found real carbon pieces on ebay for $500, so pending reviews I'll probably get that eventually to replace this. I'll probably be able to get a couple hundred for mine too.

Curious. Are they really 7mm or are they standard? It was always my understanding that American made cars used standard while imports used metric.

I think all auto makers are metric now. It's been a long time since I've worked on a newer domestic though.

That is quite possible. I did a bunch of work to the front of my mom's Dodge Caliber and I think I used all metric sockets, wrenches, etc. Other than my Grand Prix almost anything I've worked on recently has been foreign.

Also, after I made my post about GM, I actually Googled it and it looks like GM started going metric in late 70's, where cars had some metric and some SAE, then went total metric in early 80's.

Yeah I thought it had been a while. I just don't work on domestics much. Apparently I don't like to buy Merican. lol
