Spent some more time cleaning up the engine bay and such today. Got the correct touch up paints, and primed any scratches and such that I want to touch up.

Checked out the stroker block, and the only issue found was that the rod bolts were torqued to 50 ft/lbs instead of 55 ft/lbs. Bearings are good, re-lubed them and reassembled properly. They didn't put the thrust bearings in backwards or any wackiness like that. Clearances checked out. Bores are good, etc.

Partially stripped down my 2-bolt race motor to retrieve my billet oil pump gears.

Yes, I know the bottom tube on my intercooler is bent. Little mishap with a hoist and a floor jack a long time ago. I may try to transplant my 4.5" core in to replace the 3" core that's on the car now. Not sure... I don't really want thicker, but I already have it from the drag car.

Is that your horn next to the motor mount bracket?

One of them. That's for the stock alarm. The other horns are under the passenger side headlight bucket, relocated when I did the FMIC install.

Waiting for the heat barrier stuff to replace the firewall insulation. It should arrive Wednesday or so. That REALLY doesn't look fun... I guess I'll unhook as many brackets and such as I can (minus the A/C lines and whatever I can't get around) and try to cut the old pieces out and reassemble them on a table to make a template for where to cut holes and where I'll have to cut across to allow me to get it behind the A/C line.

Turbo blankets seem to fit well enough if I cut off the heatshield mount from the tubros.

Mine wasn't.

Also what turbo blanket did you go with as I don't like the ones I ordered.

That's where it's supposed to be.

Finished the touch-up painting under the hood. Not entirely sure it is going to look right, but much better than scratches. I used the paintscratch.com multicoat Galaxy White Pearl. Pretty close, but you are never going to get a brush-on paint to match 100% with a translucent tintcoat.

Probably will be able to spend time assembling the engine this weekend if all goes well. Still procrastinating on the firewall insulation replacement. Ugh.

I'm a simpleton, I like pics.

Engine assembly was going pretty well, until one of the holes for the oil filter housing to the oil pump stripped out. Thought about repairing the threads with aluminum brazing or a heli-coil, but decided to just get a new pump instead. And swap my billet gears (again). Luckily it happened before the oil pan RTV was set up, so I was able to just pull the pan off and wipe the RTV off. Scraping that shit off pans and flanges sucks.

So now waiting for a new oil pump.

I saw one of the other ones you made, but I don't know if that'd fit in with the look I'm going for. I probably do need a throttle body rebuild though! I've got a few kicking around here, plus an upgraded one that's supposedly fixed to not leak (CXRacing), though I think I may stick with the stock TB for now. I was going to use the CXRacing one on the drag car.

Spent a little time in the garage today. Heads are on, timing belt, etc. Next step is to degree the cams. Fun, fun. About 95 degrees in the garage today, so I'm going to jump in the pool for a while.

Made a rookie mistake and didn't install the coolant crossover tube before putting the heads on, so had to finagle a way to get the knock sensor and its bracket unhooked to slide it under there. Normally you can get it in there, but the way I have my block mounted to the engine stand has the stand's plate in the way a bit. Rather than unmounting, I managed to get the knock sensor bracket unbolted and slid far enough forward to get the tube in there.

Ugh... Pretty sure I made the same mistake last time I did this. Rear header is on... Need to locate my solid lifter so I can do the cam timing.

Looking good matt. Super jelly of your wrinkle red finish and that lift in the background.

I've done that exact same thing with the cross over!
