She's at least making me look at it. I had basically decided it wasn't really worth the cost difference for me. She, on the other hand just wants me to be sure by looking at it.

Imo not worth it.

The Sequoia seems like a decent deal though

If you ever lose your keys for the sequoia, the whole dash has to come out for them to reprogram them. Just FYI. ItÂ’s quite expensive.

Went and looked at the GX470 today, and it's absolutely amazing, the best one I've looked at so far. I want it, however I just cannot justify the $9k price difference between it and the Sequoia we've been driving for the last two weeks. I think I'm just going to spend the $9k on this Sequoia, and then a couple grand in maintenance/mods and call it good.

For those looking for future entertainment I'm pretty sure I'm going to throw my Miata on CL/FB as a for trade... :o hnoes:

Yeah once I pay for the car I'll start a new thread.

On the Miata I want something that's a little better street car. Something I want to drive more than than just when I want to have fun. I'd still want something capable of doing my 1 or so track days and 2 autox a year. I'm also just curious about what kind of trade offers I'd get. If something entertains me enough and is a fair enough trade I'd be willing to do it, but I'm not going to trade it just to get rid of it.

Get the GX. It is the car you really want.

I like the GX more, but not $9000 more.

He has a point. If its the all encompassing SUV that you really want then you wont be happy until you get it. $9K more inst all that much more for all those nice added features.

If he were deciding between a $50k car and a $41k car then $9k wouldn't be a big difference, but the $9k difference here is twice the cost of the Sequoia. It's hard to justify twice the cost for a DD with minor creature comfort differences.

I get it because it's not much different than when I bought my Lancer. Some were like "Why not an Evo?"

My response was an Evo was twice the price, wouldn't have had the same warranty, would have taken 93, would have been higher insurance, and I only needed a DD.

Its not that big of a deal when he was already setting out to spend that much in the first place. He's just trying to talk himself out of the car he wants for the car that makes the most sense while not checking off all his boxes.

I was willing to spend a lot more on a much newer vehicle. I don't see the value in spending that much on a 12 year old car with nearly the same capability as what I'm buying for half the price. What I get for my dollar is important too, I try to avoid blowing money just to blow it.

Also if I decide a SUV isn't what I want it should be much easier for me to get my money back

I get it. Rational decision.
