Yes, when I replaced my RPS Max Street when I had the engine out last time (30k miles ago now), I did both the disk and the pressure plate.

I did lay a strait edge on it and it’s not warped.

I know you all are right. I just really have a hard time spending 200 more bucks when this thing isn’t driven much. So don’t take my questions on should I as you all are wrong. It’s honestly I havnt heard of many going bad and it’s always just been said “replace it”.

Yeah? Honest question, how? What brand? What did it do when it failed as far as driving?

Coop
I don't know what brand it was. It could have been the original one on my Maxima. One of the central fingers the throw out bearing broke and it didn't fully disengage anymore so in order to put it in gear from a stop I had to turn the car off. Then to shift I had to rev match.

Dude - you spend more than $200 on any and every crazy idea you have! I'm not an expert (and mostly follow these threads to learn hah) but in the grand scheme $200 is peanuts to not have to worry about it! How much is your time away from the kids worth if you have to redo it?

Coop you know you need to pony up for the whole clutch/pressure plate set. You also know you need to replace that TC seal. Just get it done and not have to worry for another decade or two.

Quit being a tight ass and ultimately robbing yourself from quality time down the road.

/motivational post that is also subconsciously directed at myself. :)

Start "paying" yourself some hourly rate for your labor in your equations when you price things out. Like you want to save $200ish on a new pressure plate (a good one is probably a bit more honestly), but you'll be saving yourself 10-12 hours (or more) of labor.

TC seal? You mean OS seal?

This is kind of how I justify things haha. Based on my pay at work. Hence why it quickly becomes better to fly than drive to places!

It’s just when does it end. Resurface the fly wheel, why not do the main seal while there. And I’ve been 100% guilty of suggesting such things….and doing them. That’s why my simple build turned into 3 plus years is all.

I just want honest advice if what’s real, what’s not.

You are hands deep into the 2nd most complex and time consuming part of your vehicle. The only thing worse would be your lower end of your engine. For those two things you want to get it right and spend the small $ no matter what.

The OS leak is sooooo small. It doesn’t bother me really. Lol. The case does not leak and I have a chance of it leaking when taking apart. Grrrrr.

I have never known anyone to only replace the clutch disk. Normally when you buy a “clutch” it’s the disk and pressure plate. Fine if you don’t wanna do the OS seal. Don’t do the rear main seal unless it’s leaking. Definitely do the TOB.

I’ve never heard of anyone replacing brake pads without turning the rotors till I was talking to some 3/s guys one year as well. And we arnt talking track only cars.

This stuff is done, just not talked about.

I will prob do all the above, I’m just bitching (not the rear main as it’s fine). We are leaving wed for New York so I don’t wanna order and parts sitting on the door step.
