Decided to take on the task of making my A/C work again in the truck. It worked fine before the swap, and would only turn back on if i jumped the A/C relay to ground.

Now i freely admit im no electrician, or a pro at reading schematics, but its nearly 100 degrees outside and I need this to work properly.

I spent half the day getting intimate with my 90 RAM 50 Electric FSM and attempting to diagnose my issue. My problem is that I am trying to make a VR4 ecu work with wiring for a 90 MM. MM has two leads that power/control the unit while the VR4 has 3. They both also use different circuits to activate. Well in my diagnosing I realized that I only had 1 circuit connected to the ECU and needed to tie in the other one somewhere. Well before tying it in i decided to test it to ground. It sparked, so i touched it again, then....nothing.

Ive managed to short out the circuit. Checked all the fusible links in the diagram that I see and they are good. I also get power to the main AC relay which is good, but I now when I go to ground the pin that used to trigger the AC clutch before, I get nada. Not sure what I killed, so im pissed.

I thought I heard something make a click sound from under my dash when it went, but Im not sure. One step forward, two steps back.
Update:

Found the culprit of my AC no longer switching on. There is a small controller box under the passenger dash. I picked up another one, plugged it in, and it works again with my jumper wire. Now i just need to hard wire it in. Probably wont mess with it much more until the weather gets a bit better.

While I was at it I took the old girl out for a ride. Man, with the new 31's it drives and cruses soooo much better! I can actually climb a hill in 5th gear on the highway. Anyways there is a fun mountain road that leads up to a Crystal Mine on the opposite side of town. It can get unpassable during the winter, but I thought why not see how it looks. I made it about half the way up until I hit some heavy snow. I might have been able to push it further, but I was alone, and although the 31's are nice, they are not aggressive enough for this kind of off-roading.

Made it about another 1/2 mile up the road until it turned into deep snow and ice.

Looking back from where I came. Opposite mountain range below me. Note: I had to reverse down about 2 miles before I could chance a turnaround. That sucked.

Looks so nice out there... But the backing up 2 miles sounds painful to my neck.

It’s beautiful but it was a pain in the neck going backwards slow.

Yeah, not fun. I was once trying to find the access road to a rig to make a delivery and mistakenly went up the pipeline road instead. I hit a dead end and had to back up a long distance because there was absolutely no where to turn around. Was extremely nerve-wracking.

Took Mad Max out for a little ride this last weekend. Weather finally got better and things dried out. I wanted to see how the new LSD would work after draining the initial oil fill with some proper, expensive(ester based) gear oil with friction modifiers for the LSD. Well, it works amazing.

Lets just say its a bit more of a challenge to get the MIVEC to break the rear end loose now on the 31's.

Anyways hit up some some smaller but steep mountains just to see how much better she performed.

Picture is deceiving, already on an incline, but there are some good washouts on this face as its steep. Just put her in 4 low and cruised up to the top with virtually no slip. I was impressed. My jeep would have spun.

A/C is a loaded question. Yes, it came from the factory with it, but the charge was tired when I did the swap. Since swapping the motor I havent put all my energy into properly wiring the AC. Its my last thing to tie everything back in. Last summer I managed to blow out the controller for it when I was tracing leads, but i found another controller, so Ill fix it this spring.

/story.

Wife left for a week with the kiddo, so what did I do? Drive the Max on all sorts of back trails I shouldn't have.

You need to finish your beast, so you can join in the fun. Getting any closer?

Glacial would be an improvement over my current pace. But things are happening.

Not that it matters. KC has gentle hills. About an hour west of here is some of the flattest land in the country. I think the only off roading I could do would involve rocks and many broken parts.

Derp, got it. Exited for you and your wife though. When is the due date?

You’re so close to finishing! Keep up the pace. Interested in these “big” things.

Yea Kansas is pretty flat. How far would a Denver drive be?

Denver is about 8 hours. Nothing 'big' is happening. I'm slowly working on cleaning up the Endeavor/Eclipse harness. I've got a downpipe for it. That's about all right now.

Yeah it's pretty derpy, but I I find it comical enough to use it lol.

She's due on May 2nd :runaway:

That’s a drive but I know there are at least some spectacular trails should you venture that far.

Wow, you’re not kidding. That’s is soon.
