Keep truck reliable. It will never be fast or fun, so just focus on reliable. Then put money towards an actual fun vehicle.

Speaking of reliability, anything else that I could swap/upgrade to make it more reliable?

Thoughts on oil catch cans?

If it's not direct injected, or boosted, you don't need them.

If it's multiport injected, and naturally asperated and you need them, something else is wrong.

Can't wait for the new brakes to get here. Let off the brakes today while backing up and heard a horrible crunching sound. Getting new pads and rotors and will clean up and grease the calipers.

Also going to run a higher octane tune for a bit. See if I get any better mpg out of curiosity.

Not sure if the crunch is brake related. Hard to hear over the exhaust and engine, but seems like I'm getting a crunch that is getting louder. Seems to be from the front drivers side but hard to tell for sure. Really only notice it when I turn the wheel to the right and back up and only for the first few feet then nothing.

Jacked up the front end a couple of weeks ago and everything looked and felt tight, but perhaps I'm missing something?

Any thoughts?

Would like to make sure it's 100% before I have to start all the extra driving.

Maybe I'll recheck the cv axle...

Brakes should be here tomorrow. Going to check out the cv when I get home from the gym later.

Brakes didn't show up until late last night. Going to install them on Saturday morning.

Steve - you free this weekend in case something goes horribly wrong and I need help with a quick fix? It is a straight forward job but that usually means something will go wrong. Need to make sure I can take the truck to work on Monday.

Or if you want to make a quick $ I could use a 2nd set of hands to get the job done quicker.

Well it's a Chevy so it likely won't run after you change the brakes *ducks*

You likely won't run into any real issues but I'm fairly free. Do have some stuff scheduled but I'll be available if needed

Should also be updating to the new tune tonight or tomorrow morning.

Opened them up.

Will install on Saturday.

And yes, they are supposed to be black. It's a part of their anti corrosion formula. Will wear off in about 20-50 miles.

The pads are red because it's a special coating so you don't have to do all that crazy inbedding process. Apparently drive normal with no emergency braking unless you really have to for about 1000 miles then do a few harder slow downs/stops and you are good to go.

Also installed my new tune. Will see how it feels tomorrow on my way to/from the gym in the morning.

Did the brakes this morning. No issues. One old rotor had a groove in it.

However I did notice it looks like they had trouble balancing the rear wheels. Never seen so many weights. Wonder if that is part of the shake issue.

Maybe I'll look at buying wheels like I planned before. Get some better ones on there.

Debating on looking for stock wheels on Facebook. I don't really like the look but I can get all 4 for the price of 1 new one

If it is a balance issue and I would just rebalance the ones on there now it would be the 4th time in a year. They won't stay balanced.
