The VR4 had a CAS problem that stranded me in MI. And the harmonic balancer left me in Lenexa once. Steering lines went. :chin: I'm sure there are other things I've forgotten.

My old white base went through 2 transmissions, and had other electrical gremlins. Alternator went once. Although, that could have been the VR4 too.

Yeah. You definitely need a backup with 3Ss.

Worse still, they don't merely believe you're wrong; they need you to be wrong in order to protect the status quo. Any car that's 17+ years old is going to have random problems. Sucks, but reality. Not the best choice for a daily driver any more...

Pretty sure Jeff bought his car after I bought mine.

I've had it almost 2 years now, longest I've had a car.

Wow, seriously, only 2 years? Longest I have had one is 9 years. The red XJ. That was been super reliable. Exhaust rusted and needed replaced, radiator sprung a leak, and I just replaced a dead starter a couple weeks ago. Other than that, trouble free. Not bad for a 98 with only 140k on it.

Had my first truck for 4 years. Only had to replace a burnt out fuel pump relay.

Had the green 98 XJ for 3 years I think. The LJ is coming up on 2 years next week.

All my other ones were under 2 years I think though, or right around that mark. 2 years seems to be the average for me.

2 years? Come on that can't be right? I've never owned up less than 2 years.

also owned a miata for a month or two in 2015, and another 240 in 2010.

Longest is the BMW, second longest is the 240, everything else was kept for around a year or so.

Same here, with the exception of the $2,300 used Honda Accord I let someone borrow who wrecked it. He paid me back though.
$30k for the car + $3500 for the warranty. $250 deductible. The warranty has more than paid for itself now. It's the extended periods of downtime that's pissing me off. All the research I did said these were solid cars. Either nobody owns an older one, or I just got a bad example. Oh well. I'd been thinking of selling it even before this happened. I'll do what I should have done in the first place and buy something practical.
Bad example? I'm sorry but youre just dealing with usual vag issues. This is why I never recommend them and try to talk people out of buying one

It only has 71k.

This is why I have a warranty. It's not so much that it's happening, but it's that each repair seems to take a minimum of 2 weeks.

Jeff, was there an option at car max to get a repair "lease" vehicle along with the extended warranty for an extra few bucks. Or do they not offer those like big dealerships offer? Just curious.
