JF always likes to mention the cat.
My brothers last XJ just up and wouldnt start one day. Even after I told people we totally eliminated the cat they stil insisted teh exhaust was plugged somewhere.
When you replaced the cap, wires and plugs do you also replace the rotor button? Wet conditions are most likey the cause of your issues and its probly ignition. I know one day out of the blue my Stealth would misfire and buck like crazy if I went anything over 3/4 throttle. Upon much investigation and much hair pulling I found the rotor in the distibutor to have a little bit of surface rust on it. Rqeplaced it and car ran better than ever.

I will pick up that sensor and the ignition rotor tomorrow after work and see if that help. I think the sensor is $16 and the rotor is like $6.

I know wet comditions killed me when I had my lifted Bronco II too. Water got to the distributor and caused major power loss. Had to actually dry out the entire distributor to make it home.

JF response:
The intake air temp code is probably due to an extremely hot exhaust manifold, resulting from the plugged cat.

LMAO. I told you. They love to answer plugged cat. If you are getting good exhaust flow out the tailpipes then OBVIOUSLY the cat isnt plugged. Unfortunately too many damn rednecks are on JF and have no clue what they are talking about. There are a few good knowledgable people over there though.

When I rev the engine, it does not feel any more forceful, just more free flowing. Understand?

A few more response from them:
1) the idle is normal.
2) you have an exhaust leak by the rear muffler
3) your exhaust manifold sounds like it is cracked as well.
4) the CEL came on. something is wrong. at least you have a code.
borrow or beg a code reader to really get to the root of things. don't do anything or spend money on parts before you get some codes to talk about.
You can also try unbolting the down pipe at the exhaust manifold, but I'm 99% sure that your cat is plugged.

So if i get the whole exhaust, O2 sensor, Intake Air Temperature Sensor, and a distributor rotor I am looking at about $535 in parts shipped to my door.

According to the OBDII scanner, it is the TPS. It is P0123 which is the voltage is high.

Yep, replaced the TPS sensor and now it is as good as new. The exhaust is still shitty, but not at least it runs, so I am going to save up some and get that in the near future. Thank you to those that helped.

Ok, well today on the way to work it was really sluggish. Didn't sputter like it did before, but backfired a couple of times and it felt like I was towing something.
