Re: Random car updates
[quote=""aaronatstate""]Don't drive like an idiot too much, and you could easily do 18-20mpg.
Before I switched to E85, when I did long drives in my Stealth, I would get 25mpg

Drove too and from cars and coffee, car did great. Had a lot of sitting and no issues.
Always had a big crowd around it. Really fun. Love the car, just hate how it doesn’t have AC and smells like exhaust.
One I can fix. The other I can’t.

To fix the AC I would need a whole different turbo, intercooler, and exhaust set up, also my oil cooler, radiator fans, and other stuff be redone as well. Its just a hell of a lot of money to fix something.

Funny how so many pull the AC in the name of "coolness", but ironically as time passes it never was a "cool" idea in the first place. Quite the opposite.

The only thing it makes sense to remove on is a dedicated track car. I will never delete AC on my car, ever. I know it's hard to find 1G compressors now, but you can convert over to a 2G compressor, which are easy to get.

I debated on deleting it from the wrangler when I had it. Never used it since top was always down or doors off all summer long. You can modify it to be an on board air compressor to use to inflate tires when done off-roading.

Arent the 1G compressors R12 based? Id swap to the later ones simply to make it easier to run modern refrigerants.

They are, but I've been converted on R134 now for like 15 years. I had to replace the compressor with a rebuilt unit about 7 years ago now, filled with R134 from the get go, been going strong. Blows ice cold in the hot summers here.

I live in the high desert where we have low humidity and I have a hard time not having AC functioning in a car. I can only imagine you people in the Mid West or South. Eff that!
I have only ever removed AC system once in my cars. 72 Charger because it was missing components and was physically damaged. Unable to source parts I pulled it. That was my first car and I drove the wheels off it until my sister moved out and I got her Toyota...with AC. Hardly ever drove the Charger in warm weather after that.

One of the big reasons why I like 2nd gens so much. Better AC system that actually has support. I was terrified my R12 would bleed off or fail in my 1st gen.
