Wow that freeze plug is crazy. It is amazing it didn’t let go while you were driving.

How much experience you have welding? Just never heard you talk about it much and something as big as a motor mount would make me take it to someone.

For the fire wall are you just gonna cut out and try and make a box that gives you room? Welding in? Spot weld with sealer?

I love watching this stuff, makes me wish I had one to do as I am STILL not driving my humvee on the road yet.

What's even more crazy about the cooling system is it was able to build up enough pressure to burst the radiator hose a few months ago.

I need a lot more practice. I'm confident I can do things like the airbox and radiator mounts, but the motor mount will be left to professionals. I'll tack it up and then take it to the auto shop across the street from work. They put a new flex section in my downpipe for a decent price.

I haven't quite decided yet. I need to cut out the hole and see what I'm working with. The pocket needs to go between the transmission tunnel and some raised areas on the firewall. I need to see what parts of the HVAC system are in the way on the inside. I'm confident I have enough room to do it, but just how much room there is will determine how I go about it. It'd be nice to make it removable in case I ever need to work on that solenoid, but I think that may be overdoing it

It'll be worth it. Do you guys ever do any community events with the fire trucks? If you do, bring the Humvee to the next one and see which one is more popular with the kids

Bit of both. It leaks oil to the point I almost don't have to change it. Constantly needing to add oil sucks. Also it has been smoking more than usual lately so I think a good tear apart, clean, and rebuild with new gaskets, rings, etc. would not be a bad idea. Just don't have the room until I clean out the garage and/or move. Would also need to buy an engine hoist and stand.

It is something that needs done, but don't really have the space/time to do it right now. BUT, if this ends up being a bad winter like they are calling for then my wife will be driving it more again. Therefore it SHOULD get done sooner than later.

We do, it's called "touch a truck" lots of bull dozers and what not. It's not popular with kids, adults....they climb all over it. My wife showed a pic of my humvee next to my vr4 and all the kids wanted to know what the black car was and if I could bring it to school.

Shoot I should have made a second motor mount for you while I was at it. If only I knew we would get you into a MIVEC then.

Christmas just came early Jeff.. Grab a montero SR fuel rail. Flip it 180 deg and it will tie right into your existing line. For the exhaust I too used a 95 SR downpipe. It fits almost perfectly. Will need some massaging but will fit.

I have an extra MIVEC rear housing. Want me to see if I can modify it?

The SR fuel rails are used across quite a few cars. I've already got a set from my 6G74.

I don't think the SR exhaust will work. First I'd have to find one. Then there's the fact I'm using 01 Montero manifolds. I grabbed those to replace the cracked 6G74 manifold I had. The flanges are bigger than all the other 3.0 and 3.5 models. They're the same size as the VR4 downpipe.

I'd be curious to see what's inside that MIVEC housing, but I really doubt it can be cut down.

That starter looks like it is from a 3/S too, are they the same part number?

Good that fuel rail has the proper fitting at the end to adapt to the goofy mighty max line. You might try and get the rest of the downpipe off an 01 monti then. Otherwise hunt down a set from a sport.

I read a thread somewhere where someone had to modify theirs to fit their application. He hacked it up a bit but he reported it worked. I’ll have to look into it some more.

Yup. They are. I matched mine up to my spare when I had it out. One more reason this swap makes sense.

Haha it is funny how different people are wired. Half of y'all are like "That looks like fun! I want in on this!" and I'm sitting here thinking "Nuts! No f'ing way!"

You know what's annoying? Realizing the really long bolts on the back of your Eclipse oil pan are just a half inch too short to be used with your Kia Sorento oil pan.

(The Sorento pan is necessary to clear the front diff on the truck. Credit to Steve for figuring that crucial bit out)

Nothing like making a trip to the junkyard for two specialty bolts. At least they're easy to get to...

Why not use something from a hardware store or fastenal?

It's a really long and skinny M6 bolt with a captive lock washer. It's honestly just easier to go crawl under a Sorento and get them. Probably cheaper too. It's just annoying because had I known, I'd have kept them when I got the pan in the first place.

I'm sure I'll find some other stuff to get while I'm there
