A little birdie told me the hybrid version will be out well before 2025.

Supposedly the 2023 Grand Sport will be an LT2 hybrid. Those may be the cars that have been seen testing with the heavy duty power plugs hanging out of the hood. They're running without camo on the engine covers, and there's no visible changes to the engine.

I think that hybrid GS will be out in 2022 alongside the Z06. They are already manufacturing components.

The timelines were fucked up even before the pandemic, so it'll be interesting to see how this plays out.

I can believe that and it still follows that chart, since it’d probably come out in 2022 as a 2023 model year.

This is gonna be a shitshow.

Rob Dahm is going to put a 4 rotor Wankel in a wrecked C8. Ok, that in itself isn't so crazy.

But, it's going to be a 1000hp engine.
But, he's going to keep the DCT.
But, he says he wants to have ALL the electronics work. No errors, no lights.
Then if all that happens, he's going to wrap it to look like a Mazda 787B.

All because there was a mid-engine rotary Corvette concept in the late 70s.

He had a second 4 rotor sitting around from his RX7 AWD build. He's got plenty of time, money, and YouTube followers. It's like the opposite of the LS swap :d ontknow:

He's already got a rotary swapped C5.

Well it's Rob dahm so it kinda comes with the territory.

I'm sure he can build the engine. It's everything else I'm very skeptical of. This isn't a C5 as far as the electronics go. Even a C7 would be difficult, but possible. GMs new connected vehicle platform is a whole other beast if the rumors are even partially true.

I thought most of that bus is encrypted for control functions. Until that gets hacked (IF it gets hacked), there's no way. The transmission computer is going to force a shift at the C8's redline, which will make for an extremely lame rotary experience.

Also no data to show that the DCT will function properly shifting in the sort of RPM ranges that would be needed.

Among a whole slew of other easily foreseeable problems to overcome.

Plus rotaries suck to begin with, so there's that.

I've been looking for technical papers from GM. I haven't found anything yet. As of right now, it's only the C8, CT4 and CT5. Hopefully it'll flesh out once there's more vehicles on the ground. The C7 ZR1 had cryptographically signed reflashes. The C8 uses the same ECM, so that'll carry over at a minimum. Then I've heard everything from encrypted CAN comms to modules verifying digital crypto-signatures from each other. The Germans have been doing a watered down version of that shit for decades now. Between over the air security threats and the EPA crackdowns, that car is going to be locked up tight. I'll be surprised if the transmission goes into gear at all without a fully functional LT2 on the other end of the bus.

Not really a great picture, but this is the new silver. GM opted to do a 'virtual Corvette Bash' this year due to current events.

I wonder if it's going to be like the old pewter metallic C5s ?

Hmmm. Not so sure about that. I’ll have to see it in person.

I want to ride in one of these. Not with someone who will be stupid but just with someone who will show me what it can do.

If I had a $1 for every time someone said they need to see it in person I could buy a C8
