Some days, this is me.

Today is not one of those days.

You guys might remember the truck came with a 9500lb Barricade brand winch. But it was all full of water and mud and it was seized up. I took it apart to fix it, but couldn't get parts, so I gave up on it.

Fast forward to this weekend. Vira's dad owed us for some work I did on his Pacifica. He had been sitting on a 12k lb Badland winch from one of his pawn shop visits. So we called that in as payment for the Pacifica work.

We're going to Crawl The Ozarks this weekend. https://www.crawltheozarks.com/

We leave tomorrow. I thought I could get the winch installed if I started on Sunday. I mean, the truck came with one that was really similar, so it should just be a matter of bolting it in, right?

Nope. The bolt holes line up with the bumper. That's apparently standard-ish. Nothing else fits. Close enough isn't nearly close enough.

I can probably overcome all these problems, but it's going to turn into yet another fucking project. I'm going to yank it off and get the bumper back on tonight so we can leave tomorrow.

Does the adapter that HF sells for 5 bucks not make it easier?

That adapter won't make the clutch lever clear the bumper flange, or prevent it from hitting my radiator core support and AC condenser hose. Among other things.

We're gonna need it. It's been a complete and utter fiasco We were in the wrong experience group. We blew the roof airbags when we fell into a deep rut, 90 minutes into the day yesterday. Spent the rest of the day trying to get the seatbelts working again. Thought we might go back today and downgrade to the beginner group, but between my lack of courage and Vira's back, were heading home early.

That's why you need a jeep. No roof. Lol. But been there. Broke my jeep a few times off road. Good learning experience.

We got 90 minutes into an event that was supposed to last two days. Such a great value.

Did you have to pay for the event?

Yes, we paid. For the event, the motel, and now the repair parts.

And just like the very first event where we lost the leaf spring because I didn't check it, we blew the airbags because I didn't know to pull the damn fuse. What else don't I know?
