That V8 tho...

Re: That V8 tho...
Caleb's Gladiator is on 37s and he still scraped a few times. Including that last shelf that we got stuck on. I don't remember us dragging on anything though.
I think about all the things we could have done, all the miracles we could have achieved, if we were all just a little bit better than it turns out we are.

No. He had to winch us over the top. It started pouring rain right after he got up, and I was just getting into position. We were taking it at a 45 degree angle. As soon as I got on the gas, I slid sideways and got way out of position. If we had gotten there 5 minutes sooner, I think I could have made it.
It stopped raining when we got back to the parking lot air station about 10 minutes later.

Yea, it looked a bit slick. I was hoping you did a couple more bump hops to get over, but I realize it can be a little dicey. Looked like you guys had a lot of fun.

Re: That V8 tho...
Ever since we bought this thing, I've been trying to get an idea of just how many of these Championship Editions they made. Not because I think it'll be valuable or anything, but just because I'm curious. There were rumors of 500, but I couldn't ever find a source for that.
I got in touch with GMs Heritage Center, and they basically told me that information didn't exist. I don't understand how that's possible since any GM dealer can pull up the build sheet with all the options. Just find someone who can query that database and count how many were built with RPO YP8. Apparently that's just not an option.
Well, I went digging around in the deep, dark places and I may have finally come up with that list.
As best I can tell, they made 181. That's a lot less than I expected. I need to double check my methodology, but I think it's accurate.

This whole package is a bit of a mystery. There's virtually no documentation out there for it. The sole concrete piece of info I have is the marketing card that I posted earlier in the thread, and that lists it as a 2008. But it they didn't actually start selling it until the 2009 model year.
One of the RPOs is "SHV HANDLING CHARGE SHREVEPORT ASM TO SPECIALTY VEHICLE ENGINEERING AMERICA"
As far as I can tell, that's the company that did the conversion work. Installing the hood decal and the undercarriage protection. Usually that stuff was shipped separately and installed after the truck arrived at the dealership.
I tried getting in touch with who I thought was the successor to Specialty Vehicle Engineering America and they said they never had anything to do with any Hummer.
This was all going on during the big GM bankruptcy, and Hummer was almost at the end of their life support. So I'm not that surprised that it's not well documented or marketed.
It's a fun mystery though.

Look at you collecting rare GM products. Bet no would've guessed your H3 is rarer than your C7 Grand Sport COLLECTORS EDITION

Even if they built the rumored 500, it would still be quite a bit more rare than most of the special edition Corvettes.
I wish I knew how it was priced relative to the Alphas. That might explain the low take rate.

Also note:
You now have a C7:GS CE
And an H3:Alpha CE
Coincidence, I think not.

It's not an Alpha. It's just a CE. But I see what you're getting at.

CEL has been on forever. It's got a bad O2 sensor. I'm tempted to just tune it out like I did with the TPMS. I've made just enough progress reverse engineering GM stuff that I can turn diagnostic codes on and off. Changing the actual engine operation tables and such is still waaay beyond me though. I'd probably just buy HPTuners if I wanted to do stuff like that. It's not worth the effort to RE this crap.

Re: That V8 tho...
I have a box of 02 sensors I never swapped onto the 04 Silverado 5.3 I had - would they work for you? Want them?
Re: That V8 tho...
I'll see if they're interchangable. I can't imagine they wouldn't be. Thanks for the offer.
I really need to reflash this thing to stock. We bought it with some kind of canned tune in it, but we have no idea what it's supposed to be doing.

I also have a diablo tuner I think laying around. But I might keep that in case I get another GM and want to tune it.
