This is one time I was very glad to be wrong.

Okay....first time driving it...actually driving it. Not around the subdivision or through a field, actual road test.

First, it likes to warm up, don’t know if that’s this humvee alone or just diesel but the whole thing sounds better warm and it will puff grey smoke if I just start it and stomp on it.

The mirrors are a pain as it’s a two person adjustment and one of mine isn’t lined up. I also would like a rear view mirror.

The selector switch takes some getting use to, I was on black ops mode for a while till I realized the horn didn’t work. The lights will also stay on even when shutting off, which might make you think twice because the starting knob literally feels like a cut off switch.

The tires are deff causing a bounce and I need to revisit air pressures, driving in a strait line it wants to bounce around 35...the moment I go to turn, no more bounce and drives nice.

It’s wide, but after driving fire trucks for 10 years, it’s really not bad. Also the turning sucks but you just have to anticipate it, again....fire truck.

It was 23 degrees out and I had in a winter coat, golf pants, and a T-shirt....turned the heat off high after a little and was okay. By no means cold but by no means warm. But it was also very very cold outside.

Fuel gauge said half a tank, took 8 gal of diesel...so pretty sure that gauge doesn’t work either.

Now, actually driving it around. This thing has a ton of low end. I feel like to 35 it’s just as fast as my wife’s edge. So I don’t worry about pulling out with people coming. It also brakes really easy as well, with the disk breaks before the half shafts it really does a nice job of breaking. Tons of noise...very loud, and I’m not just talking 37 inch tire noise...I’m talking everything noise. I still think I could get some speakers to work though, if Harley’s can have speakers on them, I should be fine. EVERYONE is watching you. Two Jeep owners slowed down and checked me out hard while waving, two people came up while I was pumping gas, and there were people walking around it when I left lowes. Literally all eyes were on it, so that’s good and bad.


Overall, if I can fix the tire bounce then I will be very happy with it. I have a gps mph app and the speedo seems to be about 7-10mph off, which is hard to believe because I pushed it to 45 at one point and literally felt like I was doing 80. I was scared, and not that the Humvee couldn’t handle it but that it felt like I was hauling butt. And I was prob only doing 38ish. Lol.

Ive got lots I wanna do, like add a receiver to it, get diff tires, a REAL seat, and want to wrap it.

I’m glad you were as well. I made some phone calls before I pulled the trigger so I was pretty sure but you deff had me second guessing myself. But I’m a good way, you were just trying to look out for me.

Well, I asked my boss. He's NOT a car person, at all. He just bought a '17 Tacoma last year, so he was a good target.

He said it's not a redneck thing to do. He didn't think it was smart but he also didn't think it was redneck. So there's that

Its a diesel. Let it warm up.

I started our 1.5 ton diesel at work yesterday and it sounded like a box of rocks being shaken by Michael J Fpx. Once it warmed up all was normal.

Ordered a receiver for it today. Also gonna get the tires, gotta figure out how I’m gonna get them here. Prob gonna take the wife’s edge. Was thinking 4 tires and one with a wheel so I can have a spare.

Need to find that seat, I can’t find the one Brian suggested but it’s the one I want. Well I can’t find it with the seat heater.

Played with air pressure on the bouncy tire, went from manual 20, and forum suggested 30 and this I picked 27 to try. It still bouncing but it allowed me to get past the bounce and actually drive 45-50mph. Drove to work to drop off all my stuff, and when I left there was a puddle on the ground. Took forever to find it as it felt like gear oil without the smell. Feared it was the geared hub honestly. Finally found the leak, at the bottom of the shock. So I have a shock bad and prob causing the bounce.

Now to read up how hard they are to change. They look easy to change.

Lol 4 shocks cost me less than 100 bucks! Looking up how to change them, doesn’t seem too bad but might be more than I want to tackle. Gonna call up some places tomorrow to see if tire/shock shop wants to swap them.

Edit: http://www.hummerknowledgebase.com/susp ... eplace.doc I don’t think I have a torque wrench that can read 300lbs. But it’s not bad, i just don’t have anything to jack the truck up yet.

You might have a flat spot in your tire. I had one low tire when i grabbed the Max. Turns out it warped the tire into a slight egg shape. Wouldnt be surprised if yours is similar.

I wouldn’t be either, and I will get new tires but given the shock is leaking fluid I think it’s my first try. Wonder if there were a way to figure out if it’s out of round at all?
