How long before you start looking for engine swaps?
Someone say cheezy?

OMG been seeing so many of these swaps as I've been researching. Everyone appears to love a K-Swap.

For the time being i just want to get it up and running good. No swaps. I need something to get to A & B with all the creature comforts and great gas mileage. Ill probably be taking some more trips to Nor Cal this year for work and for some mini vacationing, so this would be a great solution.

How bad is it that I think it'd be fun to buy a beat the hell Fit and do an off road build like the one you posted earlier?

It would be so wrong, but fun at the same time. I watched a youtube video earlier of some guy using his fit for camping and living in. I was surprised at how well it worked. Now would i do that? Nah!

I would have to agree. I remember them making various improvements to construction like using a high tensile steel vs what was standard at the time. Let me try and find it...

Here...

Construction
The Fit's proprietary Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure is constructed with high-tensile steel and hot-stamped steel reinforcements and stiffeners. Improved designs and efficient manufacturing processes simplify production while improving strength and reducing weight. These include suspension mounting points with better lateral stiffness, and a new floor structure with a high-efficiency load-path. A new pressed door construction technique to combine the outer skin, inner panel and sash use fewer components and eliminates the need for welding and the use of a sealer. To assist in creating more rear passenger room and to provide a larger rear door opening, the rear wheel arch was redesign to reduce the distance between the door opening and arch flare and to eliminate the need for spot welding between the body and inner arch.

Honestly i didn't think i would purchase this car this weekend, but somehow this deal came together. Car has some accident history and the last owner (#4) didnt know how to take care of it. That being said it was fithly inside and out. Young girl had a long white haired dog that lived in an all black car. :sigh:

I've got a checklist of things to get to:

- Hard to start at times. Pretty sure its the starter with a dead spot on the armature. FIxed
- Sunroof wont close. Time to reprogram. Check
- Leaking coolant. Fix fitting. Check
- AC is weak. Test and fill as needed.
- Thoroughly clean car. check
- Missing passenger fender well
- Get backup Key fob and program
- Pull nail out of tire and patch. Check
- Front rotors are warped
- Service CVT
- Replace missing bolt in trans
- Replace destroyed front fog lights. Cracked glass full of water and rust. Fixed
- Paint correct the exterior gashes in paint.
- Pull dents in body.
- Fix TPMS
- Replace passenger mirror with correct one.
- Fix SRS dash light

Few shots while cleaning off road grime.

Fixed the starter. OMG this was a bitch to remove. Why so hard for being so visible. Had to move several harnesses, coolant lines to just cram in there with my meet hooks. Anyways no more missed starts now. Yes!

Car needed another wash as well. I didn't get all the grime last time and there was even some heavy stuff between the door jams and the trunk. I don't think this gal cleaned this car ever. Sad really. Anyways the boys had a blast playing and cleaning.

Yes, it was in a minor accident. Apparently people in TN like to hit trees. Have the Carfax.

Ok, i was getting annoyed with how black the side of the car is, so i purchased some pinstriping on a whim. I was hoping it was silver, but its literally a metal foil that looks like a mirror finish. Anyway i decided to give it a go on the car to help break up the black wall. Not sure how i feel about it though. Should i keep it, or try higher to the glass, or ditch all together?
