Mercedes also has had the benefit of being in the forefront of F1 so they have had financial income from that as well. The mid and lower F1 teams? Makes no sense to me.

Williams and Alpine and Haas and such...yeah, doesn't make sense.

Rich guys with money and nothing better to do on weekends…

Haven’t watched them all yet, but they look interesting!

It's a little unfair to put it right in the middle of the prototypes, but it's still hilarious.

Not a NASCAR fan at all, but you can tell that some of the GT cars in the back sit high above the prototypes as well. All of these pictures are intentionally making the thing look huge (not saying it isn’t huge, just saying they are taking as unflattering as possible pictures of it)

I want to see it do well just because it's going to upset a lot of motorsport snobs. I really hope they make the full distance, or at least get close.

The Porsche that won the GTE Pro last year did 350 laps, and the Aston Martin that won GTE Am did 343 laps. At 8.5 miles/lap that's 2900+ miles. NASCAR engines have to last 2 races basically (since they get 13 short blocks per season). So an engine in normal config lasts say 1,000 miles. So it'll be interesting to see if they can get the engine life. I think NASCAR probably spends more time at WOT and max power than road racing, so there could be some added longevity there.

Yeah but the layout at LeMans is designed for a lot of wide open throttle too.

I really do like this. NASCAR has always been the redneck version of racing and these are all snobs. Go crash their party guys!!!!

Closing in on 1300 miles and 13 hours. Still going strong. I'm impressed.

It's an exhibition run, so they're not eligible for official points or position. They're also not subject to the same performance rules as the other cars. But right now they're running 28th overall. If they were running in the LMGTE sports car class, they'd be 2nd in that class.

Go here, scroll down past the login nag screen, and search for Hendrick Motorsports.

That’s pretty damn good to be 2nd in the Sports Car class (even though it doesn’t count).

Wonder if NASCAR uses this as a justification that the motors can last a lot more than 1-2 races…

They made it. They were quite a few laps down due to a driveline issue, but it's still a hell of a thing to come in and finish this monster of a race at all. Even with the extended maintenance period, they were still 39th overall out of 62 cars. That would have been good for 10th in class if they were competing against the LMGTE cars.

Corvette Racing somehow clawed their way back and won the LMGTE class. Cadillac had a 3-4 finish in Hypercar. It was a good weekend for GM all around.

And Ferrari beat Toyota to win the whole thing after being gone for 50 years. Their last full factory effort was in 1973.
