At least we can all agree that the Golf is the best car out there, when you compare it to the RS.
Without a doubt. I've been looking to trade the RS in on a Golf R. I don't care how much of a hit it costs me, I have to have the best car.

Think they would take the Humvee on trade for the golf?

It would be amazing when it’s faster than my escape because my escape is just as amazing as Aaron’s car.

We should all trade our 'new' cars for an Avalanche :d err:

Right now I think the 2nd most popular car on here is the Volt. I think 3 of us have them? Soon it will be the Avalanche with 4.

Too many miles, will need MAJOR maintenance soon.

Funny thing is the a lot of the RS engineering was done in Germany (as was the 3rd gen Global Focus), and the RS was built in Germany. So it is basically a German Hot Hatch. Now I worry about reliability

A German hot hatch with American quality control :runaway:

If jeff checks out the 2500 and tells me there is no rust I might buy it, just to replace everything and still be out cheaper. Then drive to 400k and start raving how reliable they are.

Matt, perhaps Wayne (bootaddict) still has his?, and I could have sworn someone else does.

This is not the Coop I know. He would not engage in such inappropriate shenanigans!

You’re the one that made the comment the Golf was better. All I did was agree then spent the rest of the day defending myself for having the audacity. 😂

Installed the short throw shifter last night, along with the solid bushings for the shifter, and shifter cable bracket. One of the best mods for the car IMO. Not sure why Ford didn't have a shorter throw shifter from the factory honestly.

You had to have different cables bracket to install a short throw?

Did you get the Ford Performance shifter? Well worth the $$ but I agree and don’t understand why they didn’t sell that one with the car stock....

It's probably cheaper to build the car with the mass market Ford shifter and then sell the shorty at a big markup as an aftermarket part.

Didn't change anything with the cables or brackets to install the aftermarket shifter I got. The Ford Short Throw Shifter doesn't require anything either.

This is the one I got. I got the arm, the transmission plate, and the bushings. I had the same setup in my ST and loved it.

This is probably the main reason they don't put one in. My main issue with the Ford shifter is it's $450 and only reduces the throw 10%. I paid $321 for everything, and I can have a 38-45% reduction in throw (I set it at 38% this time, had it at 45% in the ST) along with a shorter shift knob height. I also got the solid bushings, so everything is much more solid.

It’s smart. Hold back the parts they know customers will pay extra for. Subaru and VW do it too.
