I like it but, but I really think it needs the STealth 2nd gen door panels and rear bumper.

Then again I personally think those are the best looking door panels to flow with the '99 front.

And the 2nd gen Stealth rear is IMO the sexiest rear of any 3S.

Yuk! He's converted the front, may aswell do the rear to! Make it un-Stealthed stat, then she'll look much better. :D

Not a fan. The Combat wing is ricetastic and people would scream their lungs off if it didn't come stock on the '99s. Only a dingo lover could like that wing! Only wing that should be on a Stealth is the '96 Banana!

I am a huge Vette lover and used to drive the ex's C4 quite a bit. Now I am looking for one for myself and am most likely looking for a C5 Z06. However, part of me wants to go for a C4 and build it up. Completely blacked out car. NOBODY will see that coming and it would be pretty cool. Other than that the C5 is a way better car in general.

Gate already mentioned it. All Vette owners should order and read "All Corvettes are Red". It's the amazing story of the development of the C5 and the ten million hurdles that stood in GM's way (most notably, the lack of any money).

Yeah, it is a great book and really lets you know what went into the development and how much heart and soul was put into the car. People give GM (and 'vette owners) shit for owning a "mass produced" american piece of crap, but they have finally brought the 'vette back to what it was in the 50s and 60s...a world competitor that should be respected everywhere.

C4 is a cool car, I owned one for a while, but you have to get the '95 or '96. The '95 and '96s had a HUGE improvement in quality control and the '96 gets the bonus of a nicer motor with a bit more HP. Starting in '95 they took every 'vette off the assembly line and went over it by hand looking for creaks/rattles, gaps, etc. and did some little fixes to make them better, and they put a better rubber coating on the dash so it wouldn't fade and fall apart. Of course the "fix" for rattles and gaps meant stuffing pieces of rubber and velcro in various spaces, but hey...at least it helps out. It was still an excellent handling car with a little work and good tires and can be made to be very light.

I would never pick one over a Z06 though, even if you did everything imaginable to the C4...the Z06 is just such a better car no matter what..and LS1/LT1

Will have to pick this book up. I am a huge Corvette lover, been since I was a little kid and it has been my dream car since then. Now, thanks to an understanding girlfriend I can finally get one.

The built C4 idea is kind of just a fun idea. I still think a slammed black C4 completely tinted looks very mean coming down the highway, and nobody would expect it to be a high power car. But the C5 Z06 is most likely the way I am heading since I love the way they look. I just can't get over the exterior changes to the C6..

I was tailgated by a new black Z06 on the way to work this morning (I was driving my C5). Those are some awesome cars.

On a side note, today was the first day in three months I decided to take the C5 to work. When leaving the bank drive-thru, I scraped my front rim on the high curb. Now I have gorgeous curb rash. Figures.

Personally I think it fits R/T's as good as GT's, its if you like the style of wing or not.

I think ARC spoiler fit the R/T's sails better, and I don't care that they cover the tops of the lights. Black the lights out anyway too.

[quote=""~jessmar~""]isn't the banana wing a kind of essential signifier of "stealthness?"

don't read me wrong--i love the stealth design; but take away the banana, and it's a generically early '90's rounded / swoop / hint-of-cab forward design. there's a reason idiots out there confuse them with probes, DSMs, 4th gen GM F-cars and all the other products of early '90s thinking that had the same cues.

but the banana wing--that was different, special, memorable. to my mind, remove the banana wing, and you've taken away a good share of the car's identity.

and in general, thumbs way, way down to the '99 wing. if you're gonna hang a huge wing on the back, i say make it a real aerodynamic enhancement and just go for an APR GTC-300 or 500 fin.

I personally love the R/T's with no spoiler. The lights and sails add something more there that go good with no spoiler. The 96 style grew on me, but I think just cause of its 3/S owner love.

Hows that custom combo for ya (sail/window/spoiler/with R/T lights). It was an interesting effort.

Any my yellow 94 GT had no spoiler, interesting turn of 3/S looks

The C6 Z06 pulls off the look slightly better than the normal C6, but black is the only color I like it in. Again, performance and build quality are a step above C5 but I just love the C5 Z06 look..
