The way i always dropped or reinstalled a 4WD trans was two jacks. Put one on the trans case and the other near the bell housing then balance with the amount of lift.

You left out the most important part.......how we're the tacos?

The naked chicken chalupa is everything I hoped it would be. I also had a Dorrito loco, but we know how good those are.

Get a cheese gordia and have them put a Doritos taco in it. Yum.

Been there by friend. That trans is a beast. Luckily i had soft gravel at the junkyard that I dropped mine onto. To put one back in would be a two person job. I do not look forward to clutch swaps later on.

Im debating on just running my existing trans, or if i should bother to install the Sport trans with the upgraded syncros. Im kind of to the point of where I just want it to be running.

Are you going to take yours through the car wash to freshen up?

Do you have to put the transmission and transfer case in as an assembly? Or can you take the transfer case off the trans for install?

I think it might be possible to put the transfer in second, but I think it'd be a pain to line it up. The shifters mount on the transfer, so you'd have to line up the shift rails in addition to the output shaft.

Yea I wouldn't want the hassle of splitting the tc.

Very close to being done. Taking the torsion bars off wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it'd be. About all that's left is taking the door glass, and putting the shredded rear tire back on.

There's a bunch of little shit I thought I wanted, but I just don't think it's worth the effort. The main thing I'm leaving behind is the power steering lines. Anything that's bad enough to damage those will probably total the truck. It's a damn shame about the fuel tank, but there's absolutely no way it'll fit the short bed truck.

If all goes well, it should be gone by this weekend, right on schedule. My biggest worry at this point is actually the engine. Now that the trans is out, it's flopping around on the mounts. I can see where they're starting to tear. I put in some rope to hopefully limit movement of it, but it's still not very stable. Hopefully the tow truck driver won't refuse to take it like that.

I think you got your money's worth out of it. You did it quick too. Let me know how easy it goes with pick n pull. I will need to wrap mine up here soon too.

Have you not seen some of the vehicles they haul? They won't care.

I just have these nightmare visions of the engine falling out on 435. But once it's on the truck, it's his problem

Yes. I've had mine for months and I'm still holding on until I finish the max.

It helps that mine is parked at someone else's house and needs to be gone ASAP.

I really just need to move out to the country somewhere.

Anyway, did you see I scored a Sorento oil pan? It was a big pain in the ass, but for $18, I'm not complaining.

Cant believe you nabbed an oil pan and didn't tell! You paid a hell of a lot less than i did. Lol. Damn you! Did you have to pull the motor?

The 2WD Sorentos have the same pan as the 4WD. You can pull it out the bottom, but it's not easy at all. It was at one of the few yards that doesn't use a steel spike to drain their oil pans. So it's intact. I got the dipstick tube and the oil pickup while I was at it. All for $18

I measured it against the pan in the parts truck. You're right. It's gonna be close to the relay rod for the steering. But it should be ok. The distance between those parts stays constant.
