New long block with warranty? Great. As long as they used a motorcraft reman. If it's a jasper I'd rather have the old broken engine.
most gas engines have those these days
New cars have high pressure pumps that go anywhere from 80-200? None that Ive heard of. That run in combination of the oil pump so you cant mess up a motor? Again, none that Ive heard of. Maybe Im out of the loop.

The Escape you had, had a high pressure fuel pump, mounted to one of the camshafts....just like my ST, and RS, and basically any other direct injected gas engine.

Hpfp and oil pump are not the same, nor are they mounted in a combination.

Yes. Low pressure side is basically the same (some are pwm, some are just bypass regulated). High side is similar to a diesel (high pressure pump, steel line to each injector or a rail, fired by the pcm)

After spending a lot of time in a few different trucks lately I think I'm going to try and get a f250 SD gasser. 6.2 any good? Stick with 3v v10?

My work truck was a 2017 6.2 Gasser. Worked just fine. Great towing. 12-14 mpg.

So this is where I'm currently at.
Going to get a trailer so 8ft bed is not a must.
This is what I've narrowed it down to.
Gmt800 2500 or 2500HD. 6.0/80e or 8.1/ally. Crew cab. 6.5 bed. Can get one with around 100k-150k miles for between $10-15k cash.
Or
2013+ f150 with payload and towing packages. Lose a bit of max in both but gain mpg, modern accessories, comfort of driving. Give Danielle the Subaru and trade in the Kia plus cash for the rest. Probably about $25-30k. Same deal. About 100k miles give or take, crew cab, 6.5 bed, 5.0 v8. And it will end up my daily driver.
Or 3v v10 Ford SD. That sits right about the middle and average about $20k out here. Not sure what way I would go with it.
More modern SD looking at the 6.2 and it jumps price to closer to the 30k mark pretty easily.
Needs to be able to go on long drives (socal, Pennsylvania) and haul/tow to/from both as well as local hauling and mountain driving/hauling. Not enough to justify a diesel though.
The 8.1 is such a guzzler that I'm kind of shying away from it.
Thoughts/opinions?

It has everything you're looking for ... Unless you're after one of the super rare 7-lug trucks.

Has tow package, the only payload package I'm aware of is the 7lug trucks but as I said super rare. The other package was the max tow package but it's not on the 5.0 in the 12th gen trucks

Was checking the mail. Looked at my car. Ugh. I can't give it to the wife. I love it too much.
So gmt800 2500 it is still. Now to find one that I can trust to do cross country hauling/towing.
