They think everything is normal. Just seems odd that the temp never moves up and down and the fan never really kicks on.

They prob think I am as crazy as you all now lol.

Well, what's the threshold where the fan is supposed to kick on? I don't know what's normal for a diesel.

Is there any kind of diagnostic test you can run to force the fan on?

Couple things I have learned that I didn't update the thread. I thought the fans should turn when off...they arnt suppose to. The fans are suppose to kick on at 200 I believe but the gauges arnt accurate. I dont know how to figure out what it actually is though. I just find it odd others talk about 10-20 degree difference when the fans kick on and mine never kick on. When I force them on and leave them on, it still stays at 200. I just need to drive it more and find out honestly.

Oh and the test to check if the cadillac valve is working is unplug it, so min does work. if anything is wrong, I would guess its the temp sensor.

I know on the Mitsubishis you're supposed to stick the temperature sensor in water with a normal medical thermometer. Then you measure the resistance between the pins. You heat the water up and take a few measurements, then compare it to a a reference chart in the manual.

Where do people buy their wheels from? Any perticular place? Does it even matter? I saw a guy post up some black steel wheels, no beadlock. Just looked like jeep wheels. I liked it and thought about maybe a set of those.

My knee jerk reaction is Tire Rack, but there's got to be some place where you can get basic steel wheels cheaper.

What's wrong with the ones you have?

Well they are those 16.5 military wheels and so my options are very very limited. I eventually wanna run 39's as that's the biggest with no rub and I can cruise 60 with the 3 speed. I don't really wanna throw in 300 for new tires when it's not really what I want. I might even be able to find some used pretty cheap.

Depends on the wheels for me. For the Jeeps I always get them from places like Quadratec or 4WD.com. Just buy the super cheap steel wheels since I know they would get trashed going off-road. The steel ones you can hammer back into place if you bend one and be on your way. If not, they are only about $70 each.

Problem is, you have a humvee, don't know what is actually available for those things.

I think I have the same pattern as a f150 and possibly a jeep. The good thing is with my brakes before the shafts and not on the wheel I can fit just about anything that has the correct pattern.

Are those 8 lug wheels? Maybe try looking into wheels for medium duty trucks. Ford F550, Chevy Top Kick, Mercedes Sprinter. Those kind of vehicles.

I think this is correct 16x8 size and 8x6.5 bolt

Scratch the Sprinter. Looks like those are 6 lug.

from the forum, "There are lots of steelies that will bolt up. The 8 lug bolt circle is very common and has been used by all the big 3. The Humvee specific issue with those is the offset that the wheels will stick out because of the offset which may make the tires rub when turning and the weight capacity isn't as high. A wheel rated at 1500 lbs will come up 1200 pounds short of the 7200 lbs gvw of a m998."

That's why I suggested the medium duty stuff. I think you can get an 8 lug on a 3500 series type of truck, but that's still not big enough.

Umm an f250 weighs about the same as the hmmwv and has a significantly higher gvwr.

From the wheel shopping I've been doing you shouldn't have any problems finding 8 lug wheels with a proper load rating. Consider most lightweight 5 lug wheels start at 1500lb ratings.

A couple weeks ago my wife said she saw an old lady driving a old military jeep. I chalked it up to her not knowing what a military jeep was.

Low and behold, today I saw it. It's a true, small, old, military jeep with the military jeep tires. It's covered in a tarp next to a barn. I want. I want. I want. I want to make a mini me to the humvee. Going to drive the humvee and talk to them tomorrow! Like seriously how cool!

It is a 47's Willis. It was in the Korean War and has been passed down. It did run this summer but he dropped the gas tank as it was filled with junk. The body is in fair shape and the tires are in good shape. Got to talk to the owner for a while. Nice guy but didn't even ask to buy it as the family connection. Very cool to see though.
