Keep us updated on what you do. I'm tempted to do that on the wheel arches on my Sequoia
Re: Yes, we bought an H3. Deal with it :p
No need to totally strip it. Just get it smooth and use some DTM (direct to metal) primer. You can get it in a can. Or you can use self etching primer (again available in a can). You'll be wasting massive amounts of time trying to strip that all off for no real good reason.

The grille is plastic and the leftover metal plating isn't uniform. There's no way I'd get a decent finish with such a variable surface.
I think about all the things we could have done, all the miracles we could have achieved, if we were all just a little bit better than it turns out we are.

Primer, primer, primer, sand sand sand. Sanding primer is easier than sanding metal

A little too much chrome for my taste, but I like it otherwise. It's loaded.

Adventure pack trucks had a locking rear diff and a super low transfer case. 09-10 trucks had an optional locking front diff too.

Whenever you use forceful and overt verbal persuasion to try to convince others to see things your way, they're probably not listening to what you say, Instead they're looking for every error in you your logic and mistakes in your facts, all the while constructing counterarguments. Worse still, they don't merely believe you're wrong; they need you to be wrong in order to protect the status quo. And since the final judge exists in their own head, you lose every time. - The Influencer

Yeah I think I'd rather have the manual over the 4spd auto
Re: Yes, we bought an H3. Deal with it :p
I can't find any itemized production numbers, so I don't know how rare they are. Anecdotally, they don't seem very common.
It's interesting that this is the same trans they used in the Solstice, and a bunch of other cars. It's an Aisin AR5.
The shift quality is about what I'd expect for a truck, but I'd hope it was a lot better in the cars.

Parts support should be pretty strong then. No more lazy slush box.

Didn't the guy in the video we watched give some numbers? Or is that your anecdote?
Apparently the auto can tow more than the manual. I also see that the autos tend to break a lot too.

They tend to say the auto can tow more not due to strength of the transmission but to preserve the clutch. The torque converter allows more slip more easily.
Re: Yes, we bought an H3. Deal with it :p
Torque converters build more torque while limiting the shock load on an engine.
