Change your gearing to 4:10’s and you will get the power you want, easier on the trans, and tow more.

I think I might do mine at the end of summer and before winter but mine is heavier with basically same stuff.

Honestly I'd be surprised if I can get everything done, beef up trans, rear end rebuilt, and swap to 4.10s for less than I paid for the truck.

His truck has no problems driving with the ratio it has. If the front was fucked too I could see doing a change but at this point I would repair and drive.

That's what I will probably do though. No 4.10s. Repair the rear but also have the trans looked at/built up a bit. That place I mentioned does stuff like that.

Easiest way to get more power though. Plus its easier on that trans and we all know be will be towing and possibly bigger tires.
Just saying its easier to up the rev limiter and gain power with gear ratio in the long run.

Im going to go out on a limb and say you've put more $ into this truck in a year than your wifes jeep since she bought it. Im going to clarify that to only include repairs, or forced upgrades, not the fun stuff.

Not yet. Jeep has gone through a lot of forced repairs and is still broken but driveable.

Jeep forced upgrades.
Two sets of tires, wheels, radiator, rear main seal 2x, power steering pump, water pump, 2 exhaust systems, exhaust manifolds, numerous u joints, wheel bearing hub assembly, shocks, leaf springs, 2 radios, speakers, numerous electrical connections, and Im sure there is more I'm not remembering.
Ac doesn't work, can't use rear window defrost without shorting out the jeep, something loose behind the dash, rear hatch won't open without jamming something under it, battery dies in a couple of days if not on charger, dash lights only a few work, and I'm sure there is more that I should fix.
And that is with 35k miles of ownership in 13 yrs.
Truck stuff I only had to do was speakers, windshield, and front suspension. Rest has been because I wanted to.

Oh and jeep needed timing chain, 3 starters, 2 alternators, 3 batteries.

Rear main. Once in 2011, again in 2018.
Wisconsin winters destroyed both exhaust systems. Rusted right through and fell off.
Leaf springs, drivers side when removed stayed flat. Passenger side snapped at the rear bolt.

Most of those things listed arent common XJ issues. I get the rear main, rad, valve cover gasket, and exhaust manifold as those are common especially with age. The rest are either regular maintenance on any similar car, or you damaged when putting other items on.
