Convertible launched tonight. So did the C8.R.

There's not a lot of cars I like better as a convertible, but this is one of them. I still don't want one yet. Needs more widebody.

No word on the engine in the race car yet.

I wonder if the boomers have any tears left to spill for this car? First they put the engine in the back, then they took away their manual transmissions and chrome rims. Now their cloth tops are gone as well.

C8R. #3 car will still be yellow. #4 will be silver. https://jalopnik.com/corvette-racing-wi ... 1838721045

They should’ve figured out how to put the glass in the decklid, but maybe it doesn’t look right that way.

I dunno... I’ve been kind of thinking maybe get a pimped out Tesla Model S to replace the Volt and just keep my Stingray and boost it.

In one of the videos you can see inside the hatch area while the roof is folding. There's a big black cover over the engine, and the roof sits on top of it when folded. I'm guessing there was no way to keep the engine visible while also keeping the interior of the roof shielded from heat.

That makes sense. Would’ve been cool though. I wanna hear some real-world stories about how the interior feels and what things people like and what they hate. I’m not sure about the endless row of buttons, though that certainly wouldn’t be a deal-breaker. Still have to see one in person.

I'm glad it is a hard top. I hate the look of soft-top convertibles.

As a side/funny note, I saw what I thought was a Camaro convertible last night from the rear in a parking lot, turns out it was a C7 Convertible

I'm kind of liking it better with body-color exterior trim pieces. The black especially behind the door just accentuates that parts that I'm not real attracted to.

If I had to guess today what I would do, is I would likely wait for GS/Z06/ZR1 or whatever to see if they change the lines a bit and give it a little more C7 feel or not. I can't quite put my finger on it, but it is like it is missing the visual cues that I liked so much on the C7 that made me want to get one. The vents behind/over the doors for the rear, the shorter grille in front, the longer nose... I dunno.

There are some angles where the C8 looks incredible, and some that makes me scratch my head wondering what they were thinking. The scoop behind the door isn't growing on me like I hoped it would. The Z51 spoiler isn't really doing it for me either, and I'm not a fan of the high-mount spoiler option either.

I think what I'll probably do is put a supercharger on my Stingray over the winter and enjoy that for a few more years and then re-evaluate where the C8 is at that point. If the GS or Z06 looks different/better, then maybe I'll go that route. Or not.

Or hell, maybe trade my Stingray for a C7 ZR1. Who knows...

Do you have a car budget? Or just kind of get what you want as you go along. Not bashing, just curious as your doing the things I wanna be doing. Lol.

Mmmmm, I make pretty good money so there isn't a budget per-se, but I also don't just throw around money carelessly.

But you are right - maybe your decision making process is starting to rub off on me. Haha!

Naw. Keep doing what your doing. The Tesla for the volt is a great idea and the first gen of the vettes will have some sort of unknown issues once if it’s the consumer hands, all 1st gen vehicles do, so I would wait myself if money wasn’t the main decision.

Sounds like the strike will impact the dates these start rolling off the assembly line.

Yep. Rumor is there's still ~600 C7 orders left to complete too.

I never know if they are justified or not. They complain at some points and the head people get stupid huge bonuses. But then they complain and the company files for bankruptcy.

I am all for somehow limited the amount the give bonuses to make them spread it out to the employees. When people get multimillion dollar bonuses there is just something wrong with what your paying others.
