Even after days of charging it wouldn't hold charge. Swapped it at autozone today and put it in. We will see how it goes

As mentioned in Shout, still dead. Went out Friday and got a new battery. Swapped it in. Dead today. 3.8 volt. Did some digging and found my buyers contract and I did purchase an extended service. So will be calling the dealership in Beaverton soon to see if they can forward me that information. Or if I can just bring it to the local dealer and they can maybe look into it for me.

Going into the dealer Friday. Hopefully the extended contract works since a different dealer from where I purchased.

I dont remember. All my paperwork that I can find says "service contract" that I paid for and what they call a "5 yr luxury multi-shield". I don't remember what those are exactly.

Looks like the shield thing is for windshield, wheels, and key fobs. But the "service contract" I am pretty sure is a 6/72 bumper to bumper that I paid for when I bought the car is Oregon. Just can't remember if "subaru" or 3rd part contract?

thats gonna be the catch. if its subaru youre golden and any dealer can do it. if aftermarket its a crapshoot if its even worth the hassle. theyll try every way possible to get out of covering anything and what they do cover may not be fully "covered" and youll be on the hook for any difference.

I'm an idiot.

Put battery in a took it for a drive. Realized that the light in the rear above the hatch was on. Looked at it. Must have accidentally pushed it to the always on position.

I'm an idiot.

Still going to the dealership to get an oil change at least.

I don't think you're an idiot at all. I think Subaru is the idiot for not putting battery minder software in the body control module on a 2022 model car. That light should shut off after 15-20 minutes when all the doors are closed and the engine is off, or at least when the battery drops below a certain state of charge.
I think about all the things we could have done, all the miracles we could have achieved, if we were all just a little bit better than it turns out we are.

Apparently it's kind of a known issue. If you leave the rear hatch open and forget to turn off the light, you will kill your battery. Saw stuff on reddit and forums from it happening when people were camping or tailgating.

Yea, thats odd. Most cars over the past 10 years have included software to cut the lights. Even my wifes old 2010 car had that in it.

bold of you to assume subaru has a BCM that controls the lights lol.
