Sucks, but probably a pretty easy fix. I still can’t track down my tapping sound. No glitter in the oil though.

You're still on regular draw thru with stock MAS aren't you? If so then you wouldn't have been driving it with a blown IC pipe. Car would have stumbled badly and almost not wanted to drive/idle.

Well so much for a simple leak. Whole compressor housing is off. Snap ring some how came out. This is a bitch. Last time the engine was out when I did this. I can’t push the cover on enough to get accsss to the snap ring grove.

Bitch.

Your telling me!!!! This is a real bitch. I just removed some more of the car to get some space. If this doesn’t work it’s the plenum. If that doesn’t work I’m gonna have to pull the turbo. The downpipe is a bitch and I really don’t wanna do it. The oil return is a bitch and I don’t wanna do it either.

Well getting that back on was fun. Regular snap ring pliers are too small. So in the past I made a set from needle nose pliers. Well since it was in the car I needed some with an angle to them to make the bottom go in first. Well I broke a set trying to get the angle. Went to HF and got some with an angle and grinded the ends down and bent the tips in. Also got much longer ones so I had more force.

Got the housing back on the turbo. Now to put back together and actually pressure test.

Yes they do, the local places don’t have anywhere near big enough. Seriously they don’t open wide enough.

Anyways. Car is back together and I’m doing now what I should have started with, pressure testing. 10psi the hose off the TB to the FPR just came right off. Fixed that with some new hose and zip ties.

Now it’s like it’s leaking where the throttle spring ends and attaches to the throttle body...a tiny little nub? Either that or my coupling grew a problem. Ive txted April to see what she says. There is a small hole on the inside where that nub is so it’s possible.

Had a GTR blow by me in the escape, reminded me how much I miss my car. So I went home and did some work to her.

The intercooler kit I got never had a couple that reduced for the TB, so after years of fighting that one to seal and it never quite sealing I bought the correct one and installed it. I also have had an issue with my fpr push to connect. The three metal tubes that come out of the TB the one closest to the front of the car is used for my FPR and push to connect. Well the push to connect was too big and hit the other tubes. So I always had to come away a little with rubber hose then try to make it all work. It did....but it didn’t. Annoying. Tiny. Leak. So I finally bought a rubber fitting to go on the metal tube and over the push to connect and made it all seal up tight.

Anyways. I need to pressure test again but it’s suppose to rain next couple days so prob will not get her out.

Oh and the other day when I pulled her out to clean the garage, I noticed my Wideband is some how unplugged. Don’t know how because it clips on but that would be why I thought I burnt up another sensor. I need to hook it back up and secure it before the next run as well.

First fire truck had a car show today. It’s their 4th year doing so. It was calling for rain all day but never did, kept the numbers down to 52 cars (most was 95 cars 2 years ago). Took my car to support them but got top 25! I was happy with that. Lots of questions about the car. Fun to tell people about it.

Oem is thin sheet metal and super light. Just needs to be painted every 20 years. Not seeing the benefits of CF that will fog in 5 years.

CF only oxidizes because manufacturers don't use a proper UV protectant. Take some God automotive 2k clear to the parts before install and take care of them with wax or sealants and you won't have an issue. Most people don't care and just throw the parts on without actually clear coating them.
