That sounds like a fun time :)

Hummers are still cool. That's why you went through all this to get one.

Still waiting on that title! Fuel filter came in, gonna order the trans filter today as well. There is a guy in cookville, TN (hour east of Nashville) which is about 2.5 hours from me that just got a huge shipment in of the Baja tires in. I think I can go pick them up for 75 bucks a piece. That should take care of any dry rot issues mine have and are all around better on/off road tires.

KEEP THE DOORS GREEN.

Damnit I'm jealous, I don't want one, but I'm jealous.

It's pretty unanimous, the green doors will stay. Haha.

So next thing to tackle on looks is a key.

They make a keyed ignition for mine for like 50-60 bucks. But I love the look of it now. So I want to take the start knob, cut the key, jb weld it so when the key is in the humvee it looks exactly the same as now. Also so if I'm at a show then it can look like it's suppose to, but if I take it to lowes I can take the key out.

Thoughts?

It's funny. I started up the humvee today to take some trash to the top of the hill and to move my jack and jack stands back down the hill (minus the jack being heavy it would have taken two trips) I get to the top of the hill and 4 people surround it and all wanna talk about it. I spend more time talking about it than actually using it.

Besides the fact that my crv could have easily done everything I just did it's that extra. It's the extra power of a diesel (freaking bad ass btw), it's the not having to worry about where the trash bags go/where the dirty jack sits, it's just the niceness of owning a truck. My first vehicle was a truck and I forgot how nice it was to just put stuff in the back and not worry. I should have never gotten that raider. I really needed a truck.

okay, added insurance. Went with full coverage just to start out with. 1000 deductible and said it was worth 15k. They know its a military "1985 AM General M998 HMMWV". She said it doesnt matter if I am off roading it and it rolls over, I am covered, if I am driving it on the street, I am covered...My insurance went up 140 every 6 months. Which pisses me off as we added our brand new ford that we are making payments on and it only went up 6 bucks every 6 months.

Oh well. I did all this because a local ambulance guy and his son bought a jeep that wasn't running. Well they swapped out the battery and got it running. They were proud of themselves and took it for a ride, drove around, parked it....it caught fire. Burned to the ground, and they had no insurance. So I am sure I will drop this to liability only once I feel good with it.

Consider yourself lucky. I don't even have my non running stealth covered. It's ~$45 a month. Last accident (the wife was in) was just a fender bender was well over 5 years ago.

I pay $160 a month for full coverage on one vehicle and liability on the other 2.

So another 146 every 6 months is pretty pretty good. IMO

we pay $290/mo for the STI and BRZ. Victoria had an accident in december, so thats really not bad considering.

Yeah when it was just me and the crv, I was under 200 for full coverage for every 6 months.

Can you tint that plastic that's the humvee side doors? Is tint bendable? It would be nice to tint those but don't even know if it's possible or would hold up?

Tint film is flexible. I'd be more worried about it sticking to vinyl properly, and whether or not the tint and vinyl would expand and contract at the same rates when it's hot or cold.

I just can't seem to find any pics of soft doors tinted. I knew convertibles get their rear tinted but didn't know if it's the same sort of plastic.

Most modern convertibles have glass windows. Some of the older, cheaper stuff like Mustangs and Sebrings don't.

The seats many put in their humvees. Look nice, and easy to install.
