Volt problems for me... My wife was on her way to the airport and the check engine light came on. Now she's back, and the CE light turned itself off. I hooked up HP Tuner's scanner to it and pulled out about 20 codes. It is at the dealer and they are saying there's a lot more codes than that. They haven't provided a diagnosis yet, but mentioned something about the battery pack.
I'm going to guess that there's some intermittent contact on the canbus somewhere that's causing it to freak out and set codes for everything where data was missing, but we'll see what the dealer comes up with.
Trading it in on a Tesla is starting to sound like an even better idea.

It'll be interesting to see what they come up with. Hope it's not too expensive.

Battery control failure of some sort. They are ordering a part that'll be here on Monday. Fixed under warranty.

How do you feel about the brakes?
I personally don't like them. No real feel. Seems like I can hit the brakes with the same pressure 2x and get 2 different responses. Scary at times. Doesn't feel like I'm going to stop so end up having to really brake hard.

Brakes are fine on mine, but yours is a 1G right?

The Volt now intermittently doesn't recognize the key fobs. New batteries in them didn't help. So that is annoying and not sure what to do about it.

Is it really cold up there? I have this issue occasionally with the CTS if it is super cold and I leave the key in an exterior pocket. Like if I go running in the snow etc.

Mine doesn’t do it because I don’t have a nice fancy keyless vehicle. Sorry was just feeling left out. Lol

doesn't get that cold here and even if it does I'm not outside long enough for it to matter.

A few years ago (2014?) we ran hill repeats in the Polar Vortex up in Cleveland. I think the temperature was -9 and windchill was in the -40s or something like that. The run itself wasn't THAT bad. Changing out of the sweaty clothes in the parking lot afterwards before going for food WAS bad haha!
..and yes I had to use the key and not the key fob to unlock the car...

I put a set of Michelin X-Ice snow tires on our Volt. Last year it was "okay", but when it snowed it had a hard time getting around so we would use our Avalanche when the weather was bad. We got about 3" of fresh snow this morning, and I had to drive about 20 miles to an appointment. The Volt was completely transformed and I was just flying by people no problem. I could hardly believe the difference. I might even take the Volt over the Silverado as long as there isn't deep snow.
Highly recommended, if anyone is looking for snow tires.

Car was dead in the parking lot when I got home from Maui. Luckily they offer free jump starts in the long term lot.
Threw a shit ton of codes.
Looks like the 12v in the back is done for. Would also explain failing keys apparently.
In case you ever wondered what it looks like under the rear floor in a gen 1 volt:

Happened to us once coming back from a trip. I suspect my son had the dome light on in the back seat or something like that.
Now I keep one of those lithum jumper packs in the glove compartment, just in case the 12v goes dead.
Ours also threw a shitload of codes after that, but they went away after some driving.

Battery tested fine. Going to toss it back in and see what happens. Might bring it to the dealership to have them test it.
Been debating on seeing if they want to buy it from me anyway.

For sure selling this car this month. Still haven't driven it since the issue leaving the airport. If everything checks out I am going to go to carmax and the local chevy dealer. Whoever offers me more I will probably just let them take it.
KBB puts private party value about $8-10k, and trade in at $6800-$8700. So figure if I can get $7500+ I will let it go.

So if any of you want it, and are willing to pay $7500 - let me know. Seriously.
