I've got them. I just didn't have the tire shop put them on. I'll install them later.

I have before, was going to do it on the 240.

I'm probably just going to go with a medium gray, with black fender flares and wheels.

I'm flip-flopping on doing the interior black, or dark gray. I can't make up my mind. Black would probably look better with a gray body.

I kind of like your black paint job.

I'm kind of tired of black and blue cars. I'd do white, but I think it'd look like crap shortly after.

There is a white one here in Reno. Guys wants too much for it though. Not the best of shape except for the rebuilt motor.

Didn't do much to the truck this weekend since I was trying to focus on the Stealth. I didn't get as much done as I wanted due to allergies kicking my ass on Monday, but I did ok.

I went and grabbed a chrome step bumper from the blue Ram 50. That'll be an easy bolt on once I get it cleaned up, and cut the saggy hack job bumper off.

I also swapped in the tach cluster and 1G Talon steering wheel. It was all plug and play, aside from having to trim the column cover a bit. It'll make the inside a little nicer until I do the full interior overhaul.

That DSM wheel looks much better than the OEM MM wheel.

Yea wheel is a big improvement. I was going to do the same until I came across my current one. Looks good and appropriate for the period. Were you going to install the updated cruise and wiper delay switches? Also your new tach has quite a few more miles on it lol. Need help rolling it back? Done a couple now.

When I pull it out to swap the dash I'll take you up on the rollback. Then again, I might just leave it. The truck has a salvage title and the speedo was broken when I bought it, so maybe it's not that far off?

I take pride in my high mile cars. Got a 99 civic with 340k on it. It would have over 400 now if I didn't park it 8 years ago

Well, I wasn't originally going to pull this stuff, but I just can't leave scarce parts behind to be shredded for scrap. I got out of the yard for $15, so it was worth it.

This is the trim they put in the back of the cab on the 'premium' models.



And this is what it looks like after being removed. My truck looks like this.



The side and upper rear pieces are some flimsy shit. 0.8 to 1.5mm thick according to my micrometer. The big center panel is some kind of fiberboard wrapped in vinyl. It's somewhat solid. That might actually serve to add some sound deadening. It's perfectly flat, so it'd be easy to copy.



My sheet metal has the upper holes for the acorn clips, but I'll need to spot weld the lower brackets in. That's the red circles in the 2nd pic. The shape is super simple, so it'll be an easy project.

Pretty much all I need now is a center console, and I'll be all set on the interior.

In other news, my speedometer stopped working. I had the truck out yesterday when I heard a clicking behind the cluster, followed by the needle dropping to zero. I'm hoping I just neglected to clip the speedo cable in all the way.

Also, the oil pressure gauge in the cluster doesn't work. I need a pressure sender from a Montero or Montero Sport. a 3S sender would probably work, but the connector is different. I'll grab one next time I go to the yard.

I had a feeling you were going to go back to pick up those trim pieces. Good call. They will complement the interior nicely.

What happened to your speedo?

Sorry thought the 3a sensor would work. Need to pick up one myself now to complete the cluster swap.

My guess is loose cable as well. It happens... Shouldn't be a diffult fix.

That back part will really help. Could you form some 6x9's in them?

Pull it off your parts Montero. The part number cross references to all the Max trucks, all the Montero Sports, as well as all the gen 1 and 2 Monteros.

Not really. I'd have to do a separate enclosure over top of the panels, and even then they'd be completely blocked by the seats. I doubt I'll mess with it.

There's something weird going on with the speedo. The cable was solidly attached to the cluster. It's also fine at the transmission. I was able to manually spin the speedo from the socket in the back too. So...I'm stumped.

Oh well. I'll figure it out later.

If it's anything like a 3/s speedo gear, take it apart and clean it with some wd40 then a dab of grease and put it back together...don't lose the key inside...and I bet it works.
