Who knows? Maybe I'll try fiberglass just because I haven't done it before.

BTW, I picked up the '90 Ram 50 books (with the powertrain diag books) a couple weeks ago. I just got the '92-95 combined Mitsu book. It's got a pullout wiring diagram for the whole truck. It basically fits on 3 pages I've got the body repair manual coming later this week.

All told, I've got about $50 wrapped up in manuals. I don't think there was anything special about 91 compared to the other years, and 96 didn't have a V6, so I should be all set on service documentation.

Great. I got mine a couple weeks back too. If I get the 91 I will be hitting you up for the wiring diagram. When I bought mine it also came with engine specific Mopar books too. They did a much simpler job calling out the proper ecu pins. I can scan a copy if you like.

As far as i know there is no electrical difference between 91-96 other than OBDII and like you mentioned no V6 the last year. Mechanically I think the only difference was in the transmissions adding A-500 in 91, but not sure if they made any changes to it during its run. The V5MT1-1 went to -2 in 91 and may have gone on to some other internal changes, but haven't dived into it past that. Most of the upgrades were to the 1-2 syncro.

I'll probably scan the wiring diagram regardless. It's funny to have the entire truck fit into less space than the ECU diagrams for the 3S.

I think the only electrical difference between 90 and 91-95 was the MAF.

Get some manual leather 3s seats to replace the bench.

That's another reason I'd want an extended cab, that's further I can push the seat back to get comfortable.

Nope. Cloth. The two top seats on my list would be 1G DSM and 3G Supra.

1G DSM would be nice.

I ditched the cloth in my Stealth. I still haven't gotten to actually enjoy the leather interior since its only been driven like 15 miles since the leather went in 4 years ago LOL

No thanks. The idea is to stay fairly light, so some simple buckets would suffice. Also contrary to popular belief. There is more space in the standard cab then your 3s...and much more head room. :ick:

Standard cab pickups in general have terrible legroom. I am not tall by any stretch of the imagination (5'9"), but I have long legs and have trouble getting comfortable in standard cab pickups.

I'm 6'3" and I can't push the clutch all the way to the wall without pointing my toe when seated all the way back.

Yea, get the AC if you have the other guy on the hook to purchase. I don't need a mirror now. Keep an eye out for good interior plastics (door pulls, levers), sport cluster with tach, cruise control, spare tire removal tools, passenger door rubber seal.

And that one looks to be the long bed, so it has like an additional 2-3 gallons of capacity over ours. Been wondering if those would fit in place of ours. Being that its an 88 its not FI, so I wonder if the in tank pump is the same or not though. Hmmm...P&P punctures tanks anyway right?

I don't think I've ever seen an intact fuel tank or oil pan there.

A 29 chassis code is a base model, so I don't have high hopes for finding any goodies.

Too bad. Well keep an eye out. Might find some random things. Grab the battery tie down too if its there. Most MM i see pics of are missing them.

I found a site with Chrysler part numbers.

Very little on this truck carries over to a K26 (V6 4x4 short bed) Mighty Max. It looks like the evaporator casing assembly will work, and that was my main concern.

Nice find. How about the v6 Montero/Raider stuff? Can you mix match your way to a complete AC?

I haven't referenced everything yet, but nearly all of it is specific to the Max. Even the bracket that holds the compressor to the engine. That's not to say I couldn't make some Montero stuff work, but it wouldn't be a guaranteed plug and play arrangement.

There's the added wrinkle of all the part numbers changing when the industry went to R134 in 1994, but I can deal with that.

The condenser and all the plumbing, I can make work. My big concern was the evap housing because of how it mounts under the dash and sits between the heater core and blower motor. I'm definitely grabbing that. I doubt I'll bother with anything in the engine bay. Shouldn't be more than $30-40.

Having to figure out the condenser and plumbing actually gives me a little flexibility, since I can pre-plan it with the engine swap in mind.

Hmm... would have figured they kept everything the same on such a cookie cutter truck. I mean virtually everything else on the trucks is identical minus the powertrain.

I agree. I've been looking at this like it's a Montero pickup. It's not.

I've been thinking about this "Montero pickup" idea. Since you've got both trucks, can you see if there's even a remote possibility of moving the Montero front clip over to the Max? I'm betting not, but I'm still curious.

It'd probably be enough to just drop a tape measure on the hood and fenders.

Let me see if I understand your question. You want to know if the front cab of the Montero will fit on the MM frame? Off the top of my head I know that things are fairly similar, but Im almost certain the axles on the Montero are about 2" wider as well as some other things. Is that what you were asking?
