It depends on what kind of maintenance you’re willing to do on the suspension and everything else

It has shit payload capacity though from what I am seeing. Not much if any more than a newer f150 with payload package. Mid 2000s silverado 2500 has almost 1000 more payload.

Why should I not?[/quote]

Do a cold start and listen for any camphaser/timing chain clatter. Other than that it will get terrible mpg

Now this is interesting. No pics. But one of my favorite colors on the older Silverados.

https://www.trucksplususa.com/used/Chev ... e3097e.htm

What is interesting is that it is the 1500HD - very rare to find apparently. Only made for a few years. Offers the "softer" ride of the 1500 vs the 2500, but comes with the 6.0 and 4l80E. Also only available in crew cab with the longer 6.6 bed instead of the 5.7 offered on the regular 1500 crew. Payload is rated at around 2700-2900 depending on source, which puts it above the 1500 and below the 2500.

https://www.motortrend.com/news/chevy-1 ... 5%20inches.

Basically it is a 2500 just being called a 1500HD. They go from 1500 to 1500HD/2500 to 2500HD in terms of abilities.

Yes it’s only like 2yrs they did the 6.0. I’ve seen a couple avalanches that came like that factory but it was hard to find.

Same basic concept as the 7-Lug F150s it was an attempt to bridge the gap between the 'half ton' and the bigger super duties

It had a lot of work/service done up until 2015, then from that point on it was a lot less done with it. If I would get it, my first stop would be to a chevy dealer to do a complete fluid change and everything.

Actually I wonder if this is it. Right color, year, mileage, etc listed 15 wks ago on Facebook. Probably got tired of trying to sell it and traded it in. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/it ... 443e68a73f

Mentioned this in shout.

Reached out to previous owner. Said mechanically nothing wrong. Just the AC doesn't blow out the front (assuming blend door actuator, easy to get to on these), the passenger window goes up really slow (can easily put in new actuator), and there was a broken exhaust hanger (again easy fix).

That said, if I like the truck tomorrow, going to see if they are willing to do a full fluid swap (transmission, oil, transfer case, diffs, etc) as part of the deal and see if I can get it for around $8-9k out the door.

Went and looked at it. Waste of time.

Honestly in decent shape, but tires are EXTREMELY bad, blend door actuator needs fixed, one of the heated seats needs fixed, exhaust leak, all fluids need done. Figure easily $3000 in parts let alone labor. They were asking $8995 for it. That was a mistake. They paid the previous owner $7000 for it, but after all the fees associated with it, at the $8995 they would only make $500 on the truck.

Someone listed that price before figuring out what needs done before they could sell it. They told me they could let me have it for that price since listed at that, but only as is, so I would need to pay for everything that needs fixed/updated. They are taking down the listing and putting it back up for $12,500.

There are much nicer, lower mileage, true 2500HD trucks out there for that price.
