We have some chiefs at the fire hall. Battalion chiefs to be exact.

One has their windows tinted and one not.

It’s because one WANTS to be seen…the other doesn’t.

I tint everything for 2 reasons. 1. Looks better. 2. Keeps interior cooler.

I need to get my tint redone. The sides aren't tinted at all, and the back is really dark. I want to get an even, light tint all around, and maybe see about one of those optically clear UV blocking tints for the windshield.

Does that cause them to lose their senses and buy New Balance sneaks? ;)

This was fun. Decided to go downtown to get a sandwich from one of my favorite places, and on the way back I made the mistake of being near this guy.

Image

He was in the left lane and I was in the center, well behind him. A 3-4 foot strip of packing material flew off and hit the front of my car. Dunno if it was light wood or heavy duty cardboard or what. All I know is I'm extremely glad I didn't remove the poorly done PPF on the front bumper or headlights.

I already got a quote of $632 to replace the bumper PPF. It didn't include the headlights, or any work on the hood. I'm also worried that the headlight has damage at the edges where the lens seals to the bottom shell. It could have been a lot worse though. I'm not even sure the stuff on the hood is actual damage. It peels off, almose like it's just a skid mark from plastic wrap on the packaging.

I called the company that owns the truck and they had an insurance claim started within a few hours. The adjuster called me today to get some more details and these photos. We'll see what happens next. With any luck, I'll get new, properly done PPF out of the deal.

I'm actually more worried about this hitting my CarFax than anything else. Fuck CarFax.

Sucks that happened. But good deal if you can get at least some of the new PPF covered out of it for sure!

Yeah agreed. Having the accident on the carfax isnt a huge deal especially if you keep the records.

My car has the performance data recorder, but it can't be set to start automatically with the car. You have to go a couple menus deep to start it.

I also don't always want it running. :suspect:

The adjuster mentioned the driver saw me, so that was good. If the driver admitted it, that probably explains why everything moved so quickly.

I think there's a mode that disables the video overlay, but I'm 99% sure it still embeds all the performance data into the file on the SD card.
