[quote=""Jeff V.""]Just stop, ok?
Alternatively, I should have just sold everything and bought a 2015 Colorado. Then Vira wouldn't have to complain about her 'missing' husband.

I'm playing, okay? :ick:

Didn't my video explain that already?
That was a 1 ton rear end for a Chevy truck.
That ugly hoist did once pull my 84 mustang back home behind my dad's truck though. It's seen better days.

Anyone know of any reputable places that sell half-cuts of foreign market cars? If I could buy the front half of a 2007+ Pajero, that'd be perfect...

Huh? I'm talking about getting an engine out of one of these:
Besides the difference in model years, that body is a LOT bigger than a Raider...

I think Steve mentioned this already, but the power steering pump is on the wrong side on the Montero/Pajero. So is the alternator, but it's easier to reroute wires than it is to reroute power steering. The car-based 3.8s have the power steering on the same side as the Mighty Max.
In other news, the Endeavor has 255 ft-lbs of torque. That's only 5 less than the MIVEC Eclipse. It's actually more than the US 3.8L Montero (248) and more than the 3.8L MIVEC Pajero (242). The MIVEC engines just make more horsepower, and peak torque doesn't come on until ~750 rpm later.
I had been going with the Montero idea all this time because I figured that engine would have the best chance of dropping into the Max with the least amount of work. I recently learned the motor mounts aren't a direct swap, and the exhaust will need a lot of help too. So, maybe I need to take a step back and look at doing an Endeavor engine with 3.5L Montero Sport intake and exhaust manifolds.
All this stuff is a lot easier to get than a 3.8L Montero engine too.

Power steering hoses are incredibly easy to have made. Napa and less than 100 bucks if that is what you end up doing.

People having the correct type fittings is the biggest issue.

They usually reuse your fittings

I tried to get some fuel lines made a few years ago and all I heard was 'that's an automotive fitting, we can't do that'.
I felt lucky that I was able to source the correct hydraulic fittings for the Spyder.
Who knows. I'm just throwing the info out there for the hell of it.

You think the Endeavor will be that much easier? I would go late model 3.5 Montero or sport. Exhaust manifolds look to bolt up to mm pipes in stock location too. Should also work on mivec heads. Intake on the sport is the easiest fit too while having the same th opening as out TT. The hydraulic stuff might be an easy fix. I'll have an update later.

Eclipse V6 in a '96 Delica L400 chassis. I think I posted this van before. He even kept the drive by wire.
I've already got the full electronics package from an Endeavor. Pretty much everything from the B pillar forward.

When they are crimp fittings they aren't able to reuse them. As Jeff said they are automotive fittings, not your normal JIC, pipe thread, etc hydraulic ones.

Power steering is hydraulic. They have them, I asked about one of mine.

Yes power steering is hydraulic, but they do not use normal everyday hydraulic fittings. They use specific automotive fittings that 99.9% of hydraulic hose places aren't going to carry. Just because NAPA is an auto parts store doesn't mean they are going to be able to source OEM automotive power steering fittings. Hell I worked for a large national hydraulic hose company and we couldn't source that stuff.

Okay well I took one of mine to Napa and they had the fittings and quoted me a new peice. Maybe mine is special but I doubt it.

Good news / bad news time.
Good news is, the 3.5L diff assembly seems to be the correct depth to work with my current driveshaft. The companion flange is wrong, but I'm optimistic I can swap that over from the 3.0 diff. The oil seal is the same size.
Bad news...I think the high pinion Montero front diff is going to run into the clutch slave cylinder. Maybe some other things. Noooo bueno....

Yea the montero guys swapped that flange out. Seemed like it fixed all issues.
The narrowed 2" on the front pinion is going to cause issues? Crank up them torsion bars!

Also, I think I'm going to be more or less forced into the 4.9 gears, unless I want to buy a lot of extra shit. Here's why.
The axle assembly on the right is what you'd find on the full size Monte, and
most of the Sport models. The one on the left is basically what's on the Mighty Max.
All that extra shit is there to engage the front axles in 4WD mode. (My truck has auto locking hubs out at the wheels)
Since I can't just swap the gears into my housing (that whole low vs high pinion problem) and because I want to minimize the risk of any more shit not fitting, I'm going to have to get the front diff out of a 2002+ Sport. Those had some kind of 4WD+AWD system that handled everything in the transfer case.
2002+ means 4.9 is the only option for gearing. Fortunately there's a 2003 3.5L with the hybrid rear diff that'll be hitting one of the lots soon. So, I'll just get the front and rear diffs out of that.
Then it's just down to making sure the half shafts, front drive shaft and brackets all fit, and that I can find a way to get the whole mess past my exhaust, clutch slave and brake lines
