I put some Silverstars in it, and drove it to work for another late night maintenance last night. They work well enough. I think they're aimed a little low though.

I do have a commanding view of the road

I really do like driving this thing. It's ridiculous and slow, but it's comfortable and fun.

That is how I feel about the XJ. Slow as shit. But surprisingly comfy besides head room. Love the view of the road with the lift.
it's still AWD, it's just not working.... :lmao:
The drivetrain was 100% functional. I’m sorry I’m not getting what you all are referring too but I know if my crv was in the same situation it would have pulled through. From everything I read, to get it to work as awd you had to provide some brake.

crv awd sucks too. Most awd systems suck unless in very specific situations. thats the reason subaru awd is so talked about, because most other systems suck.

I think that is cool. I think everyone deserves to own a fun 4x4 vehicle at some point in their life. There is nothing like it. This one is your first (reliable and new) isnt it?

Im with you. My Cherokee was my first true 4x4 and I still love it. I dont think its slow though. Might want to check your gearing again or something.

I get that.

I was just comparing another awd system. I don’t think anyone bashed the Humvee 4x4 system. I’m just telling you all how they work from owning one. I’m missing what you all are saying though.

This is our first real 4x4. I had an Explorer for about 5 minutes in the early 2000s, but that doesn't count.

Slow compared to my other vehicles. Have had slower.

I have had a few 4x4 over the years. Wrangler, 2 Cherokees, Grand Cherokee, Silverado, and a Ram. The most fun was the wrangler, with the Cherokees 2nd. Trucks were too "heavy and big" to be "fun".

The XJ is great down low with all the torque from the 4.0. Top end speed sucks though.

if the humvee was awd and not 4x4, its going to have weaknesses where specific situations will not allow it to move. Its the nature of any AWD system vs a 4wd system.

im worried about my forester. I need to find an open diff in the right ratio so i can get a rear locker for it. My ideal setup would be a newer model XT (03-07) with an auto and a rear locker. Currently have a 2.0 with a manual and a bigger turbo, just hope im never in a situation where it doesnt have enough torque to get out of something.

You can lock it. It had multiple selections.

Perfect. Have fun with it and take it offroad. Start slow until you get more and more comfortable with more technical stuff. Wheeling and modifications become addicting. Just ask Duck. ;)

Its hard to compare a jeep with 31+ tires, lift, add ons to other vehicles. In stock form though they are plenty quick. Not sports car quick, but they can get up and move.

Oh I know. My green one was stock and was surprisingly quick. Just saying the red one is now slow as shit compared to what is used to be.

As for the addiction thing... ya... no comment... :suspect:

We're probably going to go do the "off roading 101" course at Kansas Rocks Park on the 21st.
