PlastiDip on lunch. Photoshop was no help. Not sure how I feel about it. I hate chrome with a passion, but this feels off as well.

I can't say I'm a fan either but it needs less chrome

Grill surround needs to be body colored, with the inserts black. So just basically the surround needs to be body color instead of chrome.

That was my thought too after I put it back on. I have a can of body color paint, but not sure if enough to cover it. Might peel off the plastidip and hit it with grey primer then the body color paint and clear coat. See what it does. But it will be over that fake already peeling plastic chrome shit. And body color paint isn't as cheap as plasti.

If the chrome plastic plate is pealing off the surround just grab some zep degreaser from Home Depot and peal the rest of it off. Paint won't stick to the chrome plastic very long.

That is why I didn't use my regular paint on it. I have a case of like 10 plastidips cans from a project I did years ago so figured I would see how it looked before I did something permanent.

Zep won't take it off. It didn't work at all on my original F150 badges.
Get that aftermarket grille you found and paint the outside body color. Leave the inner slats black.

There ya go. Even though a rattle can probably won't be a perfect color match, it should look ok. I wouldn't consider having it done professionally until you know what you're doing with the bumper.

Ya. I'm thinking the entire thing black as is might be a good look with a full steel black bumper.

He just wants to get rid of it. Letting me having it for $500. So going to go pick it up Saturday and see if I can make it work on mine. It is for the gen 2.5 and I have a gen 2, but some people have made gen 2.5 aftermarket bumpers work on gen 2 so I will give it a try. If not, I can probably at least make my money back on it. They retail for $2500 new. It came with the truck when he bought his, but never installed it. Comes with brackets and hardware.
