This is a pretty serious leak if it's true. Supposed engines for the next couple models, accompanied by some authentic looking spreadsheets.

In a nutshell:

LT6 - 600hp / 620 lbs/ft 5.5L DOHC NA
LT7 - 850hp / 750 lbs/ft 5.5L DOHC TT
LT7 - 850hp / 922 lbs/ft 5.5L DOHC TT + Hybrid?

Just ridiculous amounts of power.

LT6 600hp = Grand Sport?
LT7 850hp = Z06?
LT7 torquemonster hybrid = ZR1?

If that's how it works out, I might have to re-think the Z06 thing and go with whatever gets the 600hp engine. 850hp in a RWD car sounds like too much to enjoy.

I always hear people say that sort of thing....I just want to have that issue though. I want to have the computer to fight every time I stomp the gas. I want the electric hybrid version. Damn that would be bad ass.

The 850 and torquemonster would just be plain stupid on the street.

Yeah, this needs to be able to be driven by my wife... I was thinking 650-700 hp tops. If it ends up being 850 - man, that's a lot of power in a RWD car. Maybe they'll have different modes where power is limited or ramped in gently instead of "track" mode. Who knows...

I can already do that in mine if I want to. That's why I don't really want a Z06.

Ya, anything over about 600-650 in a RWD is just a waste unless being used for racing. As a daily street car and/or weekend toy, 650 is about the limit I would want.

600-650hp in a RWD mid engine car is a lot different than 600-650hp in a RWD front engined car though.

And I would assume the torquemonster will be AWD with the electric motors on the front wheels like everyone else is doing.

I just made up the torquemonster name, but it seems appropriate. 922 ft/lbs?

That 600hp NA motor might be the ticket. Guess we'll have to see how the models end up breaking down with the drivetrains. I figured the TT would start around 700hp, which would probably be the upper limit of what I'd trust my wife to drive. Actually, not sure about that.

The 0-60 in < 3.0 has me thinking about regular Stingray again though. Damnit - too many choices and not enough data. I'm not making pulls up to 180+ MPH - almost all my driving is just 0-60, cruising, or maybe an occasional trip down the 1/4 mile.

I would think with all the traction/stability controls in cars today, that 700hp could be handled by a larger amount of the population. Turn it off though, whole different story

I can see my wife hitting the gas to pass someone and slamming right into the back of them because she didn't get over quick enough. Things like that. You can get into trouble very fast.

Hell, my 400 rwhp Mustang made the wife nervous enough she didn't want to try to drive it. The stage 1 GTI I had was about her comfort limit.

The only reason she doesn't do it more often is she's afraid of scraping up the splitter or something like that. It's the dimensions and visibility out of the car that intimidate her rather than the power.

Yeah I'm going to have to agree with Jason. My wife wasn't too comfortable with how quick my spec.B was and it wasn't even a fast car. Many people really underestimate the capabilities of a 400hp car.

C7 Stingray is simple to drive. Now add 400hp. I think I'd be getting into trouble, and I'm used to high performance cars. I'm sure my wife would never want to drive it because she'd be afraid of wrecking it or scratching it up or whatever. She never got the driving reflexes and vision that I learned when I rode sportbikes.
