So at 16k, it's worth 67.5% of it's original value. 30% decrease after 1 year is pretty typical...

So I would say it's a pretty fair price at 16k, even though it is a "LOW END ESCAPE!!!!11!ZOMG!!1!".
Your not wrong. My point was the market price of vehicles. Not that OMGz it should be cheaper.

I would love to see the vehicles you found?

I'm not looking for a vehicle, but I also don't think it's crazy that 1-2 year old vehicles cost more than 12k, with how much they cost new :d ontknow:

Also to build on this. I think right now Ford's design life of a vehicle is 125,000 miles. At 40,000 miles you are 32% through that life, which 32% of 24k, is....16k.

Would you expand on 125k? You think their vehicles are designed to only last long based on what?

Based on that is what their suppliers are required to test too (they typically test to multiple lifetimes though). Will they last longer? Sure. They’ll need some more major maintenance. Ford doesn’t want you to keep a car for long anyway. It’s not good for their business

CARB/OBD components are 10/100k.

But I mean, I think you can keep a car past 100k easy.

No need to worry. Most components are tested over multiple lives. It’s not a problem to keep a car longer than 100k, you’ll just have to do maintenance. Most of the time the cost of maintenance is less than a car payment.
:d ontknow: It’s been true for me, as long as you do the maintenance. I didn’t spend anywhere near the $430 I pay for my Focus on the Saturn I had. I doubt most vehicles with 100k on them, as long as they’ve been taken care of cost less then $5k to maintain per year :d ontknow:

Also I know our EPAS belts are tested to three lifetimes, and our MicroV belts are tested to 125,000 miles. Our new Cam timing belts in Europe are designed for 125,000 to 150,000 change intervals.

Coop
Industry standard is pretty much 10y/100k or 10y/125k. Just means a vehicle should last that long without needing major maintenance as long as routine maintenance is completed.

I 100% agree. Go drive one and you will love it. Go to fix one and you will hate it.

For what it's worth, I think it's because they didn't sell really well.
