Re: My new daily
Could be. Or a bad CV joint, though usually the click doesn't sound that "clunky". Tough to say.
I'd jack it up and figure out where the noise is coming from. Or just take it to the dealer...

Re: My new daily
So it is probably a good thing I got the XJ running. I will be taking that to/from the gym until the car is fixed.
Problem is it has no radio. The aftermarket one I put it was draining the battery really bad so pulled it and didn't put in another one yet. Might take a longer "lunch" today and put in the old one. See if it works.

Re: My new daily
So I still have the CPO powertrain warranty and the Voltec Component warranty. Hoping whatever is wrong is covered.

When we all joined this forum we were all voiding warranties now we are celebrating them

Odd how that changes. I still like the complicated from time to time, but not nearly as often. Reliability/safety has taken the front seat.

Re: My new daily
I just don't have time to deal with fixing things like I used to. Before my money was worth more than my time, now it is reversed. I suppose getting older does that to a person.

Re: My new daily
According to the dealer they can't find anything wrong. Going to go pick it up today and see what is going on. I might just have to fix the fucking thing myself. Or find a different dealership. This is just about 2 miles from my house though so super convenient.

Re: My new daily
Couple things. Pretty sure that clicking sound it a loose axle nut at this point. Seems to be a common volt problem past 40k miles from the forums I am seeing. Going to see if I tighten it down if it goes away. If so, I will replace it with new bolts and washers per the service manual recommendation.
Also, did some calculations. Based on what I pay for my electricity, which I pay extra for to come from 100% renewable green sources, and how much I drive, and current gas prices, if I wanted a non-electric plug-in style car (think standard hybrid or regular car), I would have to have a car that uses regular grade fuel (volt uses premium) and gets 60+ mpg average in order to pay less than I pay now to drive 12k miles a year in the Volt.

Re: My new daily
The new Volt is a bit more efficient and doesn't require premium fuel any more, so that's a plus. Overall I think Chevy did a nice job on the Volts. They really do work well, and are a great bridge between gasoline and electric today until there's more charging infrastructure out there for full electrics to really thrive.

Re: My new daily
I fully plan on trading in my current one on a newer one in the next couple of years. I honestly think it's a great car.
Re: My new daily
I would get one if I felt it could pull into my driveway. As I drive a lot but I feel it could do almost all of it on electric only.

I'd say about 90% of my driving is all electric. I have been averaging about 115 mpg combined and just used my 200th gallon of gas since I bought it over two years just the other day. Averaging between 11-12K miles a years so far.

Re: My new daily
I am assuming the axle nut was loose. Haven't had to chance to go for a drive yet, but using my torque wrench that only goes up to 150 ft lbs I was able to very slightly turn it before it clicked. So turned it just a little more past that. I think 184 ft lbs is the spec for it but my wrench only goes to 150. Will see if it sounds better when I go out for a drive to the gym this afternoon.

As of today, we have 37,230 miles on it, 74% of that was electric miles (27,516) with an overall efficiency of 119.0 MPG.
Not too shabby.

Corvette: 10,137 miles, 17.8 MPG. Lol. Yes, I drive it like I stole it, and typically for short distances.
