Coil spring rear? They're soft and comfy but absolutely suck when asked to do anything.
Yes. Noticeably better ride characteristics than bouncy leaves. Also just fine when you properly load your trailer to the correct tongue weight.

On a side note 1500's came with the option for air bags. They make a set that can inflate inside the coil as well for those heavy loads. I may consider that if I ever get into heavy hauling again,

Trailing arm bushings like to wear out when towing. They're the front ball joints of the 1500 world. Every 30k

Until you have to reverse. Then you're F'd.
Curious - never towed a 2 wheel dolly like that but backed up a lot of stuff back in my farm days so wondering how this works that makes it super hard to back up? Clearly harder than a regular trailer with the wheels at the back but does it work sort of like a two axle trailer where the front axle turns? Those can definitely be a bitch to back up.

I'd assume because so short that very little input causes major changes in direction.

I sent jeff a picture the other day of my truck, in 4wd low, ended up spinning 3 tires while getting out the boat.

The top plate where your car straps down swivels independently from the axles under it. When backing up and trying to turn, small input turns into the cars back wheels slowly turning while the dolly axles try to excape whichever direction they are headed in as fast as possible.

Here is a video on soft ground which is quite a bit more forgiving. On asphalt its a bit different as your tires want to bite in.

You can't really back up because there's 2 articulation points (hitch and steering) which causes binding. Same reason why you can't back up a flat tow car.

As far as the original question a max tow package F150 can do it but payload capacity tends to limit what any truck can tow. If you really want an enclosed trailer then an F250 is probably a better choice.

Probably should just get one of these for towing your VR4. Makes them feel at home.

The only Japanese car I'd even half consider buying would be a Lexus LC 500. Everything else these days is :snooze:
