Nice! Even dirty from transport she looks mean!

I like the blue interior, that's cool.

I can't agree. I like how subtle the us spec one is.

Just took it for a quick ride around the block. It's hardly conclusive, but it definitely feels different than the Stingray on account of the suspension and tire differences. It also doesn't have the suspension software upgrade the Stingray has. Not bad at all. Just different.

Is there a similar suspension upgrade?

IIRC it's a factory supported flash that Jeff just did himself

Yep. It's $350, plus the initial $40 subscription to the programming system. It doesn't make the car any softer, but it does take the edge off some of the suspension impacts and all around makes the car more stable and predictable.

This sums it up nicely: https://gm-techlink.com/?p=9978

I could take it to a dealer and have them do it, but it seems like half the time they don't know what you're talking about and just reload the original production software. Or they charge you too much. GM owes me some beer and pizza for all the free tech support I gave on that topic back when it first came out.

Before I moved to KC, I worked for GM TechLine (not the same as TechLink above). I was a service programming subject matter expert, so I knew exactly how all that stuff worked. My whole job was explaining those systems to dealership service technicians, and teaching my coworkers about them. Fortunately they didn't change any of it in the intervening 10 years after I left.

I'll drive the car for a few months to get a feel for the stock programming, and then upgrade it.

The Grand Sports have different suspension tuning from the Stingray right? This change applies to both though, while still having those different tunes?

Yep. They're all calibrated differently based on the characteristics of the car. Like a GS with Z07 and a Z06 with Z07 use different calibration files. It probably has to do with the added weight up front on the Z06.

I put together a chart of calibration file numbers so people could see if their cars were programmed correctly. There's 17 different variations of this upgrade depending on year, model and options.

The dealerships don't need to know any of that though. They call Techline with the customer's VIN, wait for Techline to update the central database, and then they program the car. And somehow they still manage to fuck it up.

The thing I've learned in manufacturing, is no matter how many safe guards you put in place to manufacture your widget properly, some how, some one will fuck it up at some point.

Let me tell you about radio programming.

Tech: I replaced the radio, and there's only sound from one speaker. The software is broken.
Me: It's in production on 50,000 vehicles. It's not broken. You didn't pick UQA (premium audio) from the drop down list.
Tech: I didn't see it in the list.
Me: Scroll down
Tech: I don't see it. Why does this have to be so hard? We don't get paid enough for the time it takes to do this.
Me: Look again. Scroll down.
Tech: Oh, there it is.

I put in an email about the doc stuff and temp tag yesterday. Didn't hear anything back, but I did get the correct registration packet today. Vira and I ran out to the notary during lunch. That was a whole shitshow of its own, but at least it's done.

Not that it matters. I can't send this stuff back without a VIN and odometer inspection. I can't drive the car to get that without the temp tag. So I called them and had to leave a message.

They want this info back within 72 hours of receiving the car. That's for damned sure not going to happen thanks to their screw ups.

I wonder if Carvana or Vroom handle this stuff any better? Carvana at least has offices at those gimmicky vending machines they built.
