Ok, this would make for a great YouTube channel. Would be surprised how many others are in your boat but don’t know the steps to take to get to their goal.

Funny you now have one of the most capable GM trucks but now have a sharp learning curve. Hope you can embrace the 4x4 life and really enjoy off roading.

We're all about respecting the environment. That's part of why we want to get in with people that know what they're doing.

We took a 101 course that stopped short of actually GOING somewhere. We definitly got the basics of the above, and already felt that way as is. There is/was an actual 101 paid CLASS that we almost did last year, and then didn't because it stormed that day. Was supposed to be in April...and then.......

The color is growing on me. It's better than the grays and that awful pewter color GM used on seemingly everything. Ultra Silver Metallic was exclusive to the CE, so you won't see it around much.

No need. HP Tuners should be fine for any tuning he wants/needs to do for a LS based engine.

I was going to go with hp, but found a deal on a used diablo programmer and after I do some logging getting a custom tune using it.

Really like that silver.

Are the oem wheels the same? If so easy swap.

These are OEM wheels. They just have ruined black powder coat on top of ruined OEM chrome.

There's a set of painted silver wheels for sale locally. Same as what's on the orange truck. $200, set of five, with stock size (285/75R16) tires. I'm trying to decide if I should pick them up or not.

So buy or swap out? If orange is nice just swap.

Jeff doesn't want to put the crappy wheels on the orange, for fear of bringing down the value for resale. I get it.

So clean up the old wheels as much as possible, or buy the $200 wheels and try to find a shop that will mount the old tires on the new wheels...which will be a pita.

I wish I could fit 285 on mine. Pretty sure the max I can do is 265/75/16, which is what I have, without needing to lift it.

16" of water at 20mph, I know I'd be hitting some puddles hard

We had a ton of rain earlier this year. There was on day in particular where I was driving home from work and hitting every single deep puddle by the curb at about 45 mph. I was such an asshole

Selling private party? Pretty sure they will look past the flaking issue and love your knobby’s.

I'm gonna pull the spare off and see how tough it would be to grind all the shit off and get it to a paintable surface. If I can rattle can them a halfway decent black, then that'll make this a lot easier.

Grind? Yikes. Chrome doesnt come off easy and its likely pitted underneath. If its that bad just by new wheels and mount the knobs on them.

Also, we need more photos.

These rims are really trashed. There may not be that much grinding.

Anyway, I decided to dig into a couple of the problems tonight. First one was the passenger window wasn't working. To make a long story short, the switch was assembled incorrectly. It was kind of dumb luck that I figured it out. Basically someone took it apart, reassembled it incorrectly, and then didn't give a shit that the window wasn't working. I put the little plastic doodads back where they belong and it works fine now.

Also, the passenger's power seat doesn't work. I looked underneath, and besides finding the old owner's iPod Nano, I found a harness that wasn't hooked up. The seat had an empty plug. But the harness and the plug weren't even close to matching. I went back and checked the option codes, and this truck was built with power on the driver's seat only, and cloth interior. Now it's got full leather, and dual power, heated seats. Gonna have to get real creative to fix that one.

It's also got a really flaky factory nav radio. It doesn't turn on reliably, the buttons are all worn off, and the GPS is stuck on downtown Detroit, where GMs HQ is. Problem is, it was built with the same AM/FM/CD our orange truck had. So apparently they didn't bother installing the GPS antenna. I don't know why you'd waste the money buying and programming that boat anchor, only to have the most important feature not work. Good thing I'm replacing that POS anyway.

Score. So they installed better parts but didn’t know what they were doing. That will keep you busy for a little bit. I do like the silver. It does appear to be more menacing too. Maybe it’s the wheels along with the ARB bumper?

Is just swap the wheels on one side and see if you like how it turns out.

Also does your new one come with factory rock sliders? If so that covers about everything you need for serious off roading.
