He hates Nissan.

Veloster still exists?[/quote]

I still live in CA and don't plan to move.

I don't hate Nissan, I don't trust them after my parents had to drop 6k to have the head gaskets replaced on their 80k M35S

Also for whatever reason I find I prefer sport sedans or wagons, so I'm not super interested in another 2 door car.

Sell everything and buy a Raptor.

Have zero need for a vehicle of its capabilities, but damnit it'd be awesome to have :D

I dunno. It fits what you're describing.

It's fast.
It's capable.
It'd be fun to troll people at autocross.

The 6.2L in the older Raptors suck. Its slow compared to the 5.0L V8 and the 3.5L Turbo V6. That truck is only marginally better for off-road use, which he isnt going to do much anyways.

I always heard the 6.2 was a beast, a thirsty beast. It's the old 5.4 Raptors that blow.

There's more to it than that. It has to be the same year or newer and you have to carry over all emissions systems or some shit. Cars like Subarus where they are basically Legos its pretty easy to get a BAR'd swap (aka completely somg legal) others it's a bit more difficult.

6.2 blows. Its full of old tech and guzzles all your fuel. Look into the 5.0L if you want long term reliability with minimal work done to the truck. The 3.5L is quicker out of the box and obviously can take mods, but they can be temperamental with plugs, coils, etc. and will require servicing the turbos down the line.

Just depends on what you are most comfortable with.

Yes I'm aware of that too.

I was coming to post exactly this. I even looked them up last night haha

Everything I’ve always read about the first gen Raptor with the 6.2L has been great. Of course it’s not going to get good fuel economy but who cares. It can do 70mph on a desert course  And the new 3.5 Raptor gets 15/18 city/highway where the 6.2L was rated at 14/18. So it’s not like it’s that much worse.

The 6.2L size is wasted. The 5.0L is just as fast if not possibly quicker. Better engine design all around.

Bingo.

It’ll still do 70 off road :d ontknow: I don’t think you buy that type of truck to be fast on the road anyway. My point was the old ones don’t get any worse mileage than the new ones. Even if they are slower. You can also get an older 6.2L in Chris’ price range.

The 6.2 has significantly more power and torque than the 5.0 prior to the recent updates to the 5.0.

Either way the discussion is kind of pointless as 100k beat Raptors are at the very top of my price range. Ones in the condition and mileage I'd want are 40k-50k.

So can we summarize what you want in a vehicle...
  • Fun to daily drive
  • Decently quick
  • Good on gas
  • Can be taken to the track
  • 4x4/AWD
  • Has the ability to tow
  • Comfortable
  • Room for stuff
  • Decent options
  • Not break the bank expensive
  • Reliable
I just don’t think such a thing exists. You want to much from one vehicle. You either need to replace both if your bored with both, or replace both with one, and sacrifice a few wants/needs.

Sounds like you need to pick up a fun car to replace both and rent a truck when you need to tow something :d ontknow:

Cayenne turbo hits all those points (hell even the na v8 is fairly quick) except the good on gas and arguably the reliable part (it is German after all but many say it's one of the most reliable out of Germany)

It can have more power on paper but a f150 with the 5.0 is just as quick in a straight line. I also think the gas mileage comparison is off. I got great mileage with my work truck. My current truck has the 6.2 in it and it’s all sorts of let downs.

I like your loaded fx4 more. Much better buy imo.
