Or cracked. At this point I would believe that cast alluminum would crack before warping. So I'm either going to fix the problem or break something tomorrow as a week on the same issue should never happen on something as simple as an intake manifold.

I have wasted a good 3 hours on a broke bolts. Seems like when I was taking off the plenum a bolt broke on the way out. I wasn't too worried as it stuck in the UPPER manifold. Well this bitch isn't coming out. Guess I must have not had the heli perfectly strait.

Back to the bolt stuck. I have used a punch and a 3lb sledge. Nothing. I used a drill bit and drilled all the way through. Nothing. I have tried the two washers in the side that still had threads. Nothing. Literally 3 hours in a stupid bolt that is kicking my ass!!!!

Did what I should have had and took it to my dads drill press. Drilled it out right and the upper is nice and good. I had to go log back into 3si to find a lower intake as mine is just not right.

Took the lower off as I will need a new one. I mean I guess I could drill it again and go up a size of bolt. I could do what I should have and put it on a drill press as well. But after mating the two mani's off the car there is deff a very slight area that you can see through when pushed together. Now I would 100% expect a gasket to take care of this but it wasn't. So just start fresh with a new one.

A metal gasket isn't going to seal a warped area. Gotta be flat...

Steve, you might not remember this as it was old school sim days but I talked to you about a lower intake before. Mainly the holes in the lower intake.

Than I had no idea about them. Now that I cap that port I think I will take my broken manifold and cut off that hole tube and see what it looks like if it's possible for someone to weld up what I cut off and then I will have a little more room and not worry about a rubber cap.

The port on the plemum, between the TB and the runners....I think its pressed in. I would like to put a push to connect fitting in. Anyone ever drill that out?

Pretty sure it is just pressed in. You might be able to grab it with a drill chuck and spin it out if you really wanted to. Or grab it with a vice-grips and give it hell. It should come out with sufficient force.

Got my sandblaster working. I am using glass beads. Have a couple leaks on the case, compressor does not like it, but it will be fine. Just take my time on things. Cleaned a yeti that I dropped while it was still drying. Half way through my plenum.

Still waiting on my lower intake, and studs. Then I need to clean things and powder coat them before assembling them again.

Oh for the days that a rattle can and rtv would work!

So I used glass beads, do they just wash off? I hosed off the intake and seems like it all came out of the threads, unlike sand. And it would make sense as I used glass as it doesn't get hold moisture so maybe it would wash away? Just wanna make sure if I need to do anything.

Took the intake down to my dads and we put a stuff called bluing on the gasket surfaces. Then took a file and put equal pressure on both sides and ran it down the surface. Now the bluing deals with thousands and so when the file runs across it you get to see low spots. It was really interesting, you could see how the holes for the bolts were pulled down and the middle raised up. We filed on it for about an hour and got all high spots out, reapplied the bluing and went back over it a little more till I'm confident that it will get a good seal. I then did the same thing on the TB surface. I will end up having to do the same for the lower intake as I'm gonna make this bitch seal. Wish I could do the heads in the car but I couldn't with all the studs.

Man doing things the right way takes way longer!

Lower intake showed up, got it sandblasted, gonna get the mating surface flat and I guess wait till next week to powder coat it.....man that sucks. Part of me wants to put it together to make sure it seals before I powder coat it and the other part of me wants to get it all right then put it together.

Grrrr.

All done and cleaned. Now when I put the lower and upper together I can't see through like I could before. I did read up on cleaning up the glass beads. So I did what it said, put it in a sink with hot soapy water, washed it over and over. Then hosed it all out with a garden hose. Copious amounts of water. Let it dry. But man, when I picked them back up to mount them together I still had a couple glass beads lingering. Really gonna have to be careful. I would never use this on a valve cover or anything that oil contacts.

Since it will be a couple weeks before I can powder coat I put things together really helped a lot but still leaks some. I think it's the autozone gaskets. When I take it back apart to powder coat I will swap them out. But very very little leak at 15psi still coming from the connecting spots.

Was gonna drive it but then thought the oil is over 2yrs old and been through a lot. So I'm gonna change that and take it for a ride Tuesday. Hopefully it all goes well.

Had a lot of errands this morning so I didn't get to much but I did decide to figure out what I needed to do for the stereo. This entire time I thought we cut the harness for the carputer. I know we had sound coming out and know we had to tap into each speaker and ran rca wire back to the back. Well I remove stuff and find that none of it's hooked up. I txt jeff some connectors and he says those are the stereo ones. Then I remember we bought an aftermarket connector and used it. So I pulled out all the carputer stuff. The vga wire, the rca wires, and a USB wire all ran from front to back.

Realized my old safc is still hooked up, need to figure out about the mas wire on that.

Cleaned out some stuff and put things back together. So now I need to find a fairly skinny flat screen receiver for the car. I also took the subs out of the back. I love my sub box, never seen another box like it but the felt is faded so I want to either replace or dye the felt back before it goes back. Actually I want to remove all the trunk plastic and dye them black like the front. Maybe this winter. Also have someone getting me two plastic knobs for the covers in the trunk and found someone with the washer I needed. Now if I could just get some timing covers!!!!

Also my powder coating "booth" showed up today so I could powder coat the plenums tomorrow and put them back on. Part of me wants to, part of me wants to wait. So we will see. She needs an oil change as well and I don't really wanna drive it till that washer gets put on.

Also going to send some 360 injectors to sexyblue on 3000gt. She posted up a video in her thread and man.....I felt bad for her. Her car has some issues. One of which is none of her fuel controllers are reading the ecu and all her gauges are constantly resting...but she is running it on bigger injectors and needs to get that taken care of.
