Yep. Ask me a couple years ago and I would be hell no. Now I like the idea of an economical, quite, safe, comfortable car.

Doubtful.

My fun car is comfortable and reliable, and gets 30+ mpg on the interstate.

I'm mid 30's and I still don't want a crappy economical safe car. Give me fun anyday.

I could maybe make an exception for a truck or a campvan/rv type thing, but those vehicles would have a specific purpose, never a commuter vehicle.

The only "commuter" vehicles I have been looking at lately are Nissan Altimas and even then I only would want a 3.5 coupe.

Those are actually surprisingly quick and can be made fun with minor suspension mods.

I put the volt in sport mode for the first time tonight. Wasn't ready for for the torque and faster throttle response. Lol.
It's deceptively fast. With no transmission shifts before you know it your going 60+.
Then again I'm coming from a jeep that goes 0-60 in over 12 seconds. Lol.

My favorite commuter I've had so far is a used bike.
Who said the Volt was crappy though? Has it gotten bad reviews?

Meh for commutes I am perfectly happy giving up performance for comfort and a bit of luxury.

Why compromise when you don't have to?

I don't feel like I compromised anything. It is a total upgrade for me.

All the reviews I've seen on Google so far give it 4 out of 5

I don't feel like it is a compromise either. It is pretty quick, agile enough, super quiet, very comfortable, and almost no maintenance costs.
I don't need a performance car to be stuck in commuting traffic, and I'd rather save my fun cars for fun drives.

So I bought the car with under a 1/4 tank of gas. About to go out this weekend and put gas in it for the first time.
I was going through 1-2 tanks of gas a week in the Jeep, and it was only going to the gym 3x a week. The car has gone to/from the gym 6 times, wife has taken it to work 6 times, and we have gone shopping/out in it multiple times. Tonight will be the first time I will be filling up that giant 9 gallon gas tank.

Posts like this are why I keep telling myself to drive my swift again. 42mpg vs 14mpg

I've averaged 180 miles per gallon so far.
