What's the total weight of the exo?
17ish

Figure 3000lbs with the enclosed trailer.

Obviously beyond what a stock MM could do but with a bigger engine and montero trans?

If you get the 4x4 you are good to 3,500lbs.

Towing is just as much about the brakes as it is the engine. So hopefully the enclosed trailer has its own brakes.

Confirmed my visit for this weekend. Luckily its only 2 hours away. Little worried how it will perform going over the Sierra Nevadas though.

Went to pick it up today. First off it was deep in the hood. Second and probably not a big shocker, the guy doesn't have his name on the title. What a waste of my day.

Title not in his name should have been told. That's bull shit.

Yea just pissed me off. I drove a state away just to find that he had partial paperwork in his buddy's name. What pissed me of even more was him saying he had the bill of sale and that was enough. Was like, hey dummy that title needs to be in your name and not this Chinese name it currently is in. Or have that dude request a duplicate. He just looked at me like a deer in headlights.

We will see how today goes. If he gets his act together and gets the paper trail moving.

Found out the rear diff out of the 6 speed 3S is a direct swap along with its LSD. Also is the best option for highway mileage.

The Max has IRS?

No. They have limitations on the ring and pinion options. I think i have literally 3 choices from the factory on Monteros and MM's. 3.9, 4.2, 4.9. The only other rear diff is that out of a 5 speed (around 3.5) or 6 speed (3.3). You also get hard to find limited slip.

Ok. So it's not the whole 3S pumpkin that swaps in. It's just the guts.

Still pretty cool.

Something else I was wondering about. The Endeavor uses the same axle seals and a couple other diff parts. I've never pulled one to check, but I've been wondering if it's compatible with the 3S housing, and if there'd be any benefit to it. What I was really hoping for was to find a torsen LSD, but I'm not sure the Endeavor ever got one.

Based on internet pics, the Endeavor had a 3.312 rear end. The casing even has a mounting boss for a 4WS pump. It's uncanny.

Yea, just the guts. Although the 95 TT has a 5 speed rear in it being that the trans has MR gears, so I can still probably find it a home if I dont use it for the MM. I might buy your JDM version as it would be correct for mine if you wanted to get the other.

The Endeavor rear is quite interesting. I was just in the local "high end" mitsu junk yard yesterday combing through some of the trucks and I remember going by one. Was hard to see the rear diff as it was virtually boxed in. Would be crazy if they just re-purposed the rear diff.

It's a shitty picture, but tell me that doesn't look familiar.

It's an independent rear end and it fits in a sub-frame just like on our cars. As best I can tell, the Endeavors only ever got an open rear end. I haven't been able to find an aftermarket LSD for it.

Looks way too similar to be coincidence. Also the LSD Torsen came on...wait for it...only one Mitsubishi...Tritons (5th gen Mighty Max's) that were of course never sold to the US.

For some stupid reason I really want a JDM MM now... They don't exist though.

This is what constitutes a "JDM Truck"

If you want a foreign Mighty Max or similar, maybe check Australia or Europe.

Before i got into the 3s i was into starions and wanted badly to turbo a mighty max, which at that time had an NA version of the starion motor. would be a very straight forward swap

never got around to it, the trucks were still fairly valuable at the time

As far as I'm aware, those were never sold in Japan. So you'd be looking for Australia or New Zealand.
