I think about all the things we could have done, all the miracles we could have achieved, if we were all just a little bit better than it turns out we are.

I needed something to test the new TV in the new office.

(70" 4K Vizio)

The video wasn't 4K, but I was mainly concerned with making sure the ethernet connection was working, and I was curious how the audio sounded. (Like shit...the whole office has WAY too much echo)

Why was episode 12 never posted?

Also...their webmaster skipped a few (dozen) steps.

I fucked up. The car with the orange engine is Project Mixo. Not Project Binky.

Was it just me, or did Nik come across a kind of irritated?

I just realized the first episode was posted in Aug 2013. I can't say I'd blame him with as long as this is dragging on...

Interesting bit on The Drive.

http://www.thedrive.com/watch-this/8480 ... oject-cars
They predicted the car would be complete within a matter of months, and that the car would be on a track by the end of 2014, a prediction made in August of 2013. As should be obvious by the state of the car in the above video, the project has not yet been finished as of March of 2017, and no end is in sight.
I knew it was taking a long time, but 4 years and counting? Wow...

That's great for them. It stretches out publicity and merchandise sales longer. Honestly, who's going to buy their coffee mug after the project is finished? I'm sure it also has increased regular customer work that actually pays the bills. So, it's probably been far more profitable to let this thing play out as long as possible.

Plus, the amount of labor hours into this thing has to be far more than they ever imagined. The detail work is pretty damn cool.

It's not dead yet! Episode 16 is done :D

Honestly, they could have gotten 3 episodes out of everything they did here. I think they're realizing they have to walk a shorter line between showing us every little detail, and just getting the material filmed, edited and published. Even with a run time of 30 minutes, they left a lot out. I don't blame them one bit.

One thing they did that really drives this home is they left a stop watch running while Nik made a power steering bracket. It's not super complicated relative to some of the other stuff they do, but it still takes a hell of a long time. It really makes me feel better about how long it takes to do some of my own projects.

Their HVAC box is a work of genius. They really raised the bar with that.

Wow. I really thought something had happened and they had to stop. But it's still going!

After seeing that HVAC module, I understand why it took seven months!

Episode 18

Episode 19

The wire harness stuff they do in 19 is basically what I'm going to have to do with my pickup if I ever get that far.

I already stripped down a Montero Sport harness like they did, back when I was just going to do a 3.5L swap. :grumble:
