then why not at least try to help along the ones that could be a good friend down the road?
Because a group of people who do not give one shit about you, your 'community' or your passion are profiting off of your generosity.
How many fucking times do I have to explain this?

because were looking at it from different views man. Its not your right I am wrong or your wrong I am right. This isnt a flippen math problem with only one answer. Its about people. I see the people. The owners that do a build that takes 3 yrs. The owners that, while they may be cheap, have a passion for the car. They are out there.
You see AF and ads and I have even seen you be able to help someone and not do it over there because of AF and some "profit" they might get. FUCK AF, its not that individuals fault that AF owns 3si. If its anyones fault its old school 3si members that were always bitching and complaining. Yeah I said it, 3si server is slow, 3si is sucking...well it wasnt 3si sucking then...it was poor management that drove this, and some money, but then why punish the new owners who were prob sucking on mama's titty when you bought your first 3/s?
But the whole days of ol', the close nit groups, the helping people out, have all turned into cheap noobs, unhelpful older members, and low balling.
Yep, that's the kind of thing I like to avoid... I'll stick with BAWC.
No, I don't offer free porn. If you want it, you'll have to buy it yourself.
More technical discussion where people know what they're talking about, and people aren't quickly dismissed for being new. I wouldn't mind helping out with electronic projects, or offering some unsolicited advice from time to time, or even having a healthy discussion on why something will or won't work. But I can't stand it when people just throw you under the bus for no reason other than you disagree with them, kind of like how the Brandon/Bobby/FOG bloc worked for a while.
Is there that already? I get lost amongst all the off topic forums sometimes.

still in the honeymoon phase though. Nothing against your forum alan, but you know as well as I do that is still relatively new to have any problems. Curious, is that green guy there....the one from FL3S (not mean green) but it had something to do with green?

Their are issues but others that steve68(aka mag1it) its a pretty civil group.
I think were still under 10 reported posts.
I tried reading through the off topic section a few times, but it was just scary bad.

Jeff why do you bother arguing with LW? He's more pig headed than I am on my worst days.
Because it's funny to watch him backpedal and contradict himself. The fun is wearing off though.

Stay out of their political forum then. They've got a couple guys over there that make FOG and Bobbeh look like polite moderates.

It wasn't even a discussion, it was like VB 'Nam, people just cutting people down for seemingly no reason at all.

Whenever you use forceful and overt verbal persuasion to try to convince others to see things your way, they're probably not listening to what you say, Instead they're looking for every error in you your logic and mistakes in your facts, all the while constructing counterarguments. Worse still, they don't merely believe you're wrong; they need you to be wrong in order to protect the status quo. And since the final judge exists in their own head, you lose every time. - The Influencer
Is the level of bullshit you have to go through to change things in a direction you want, less than than or equal than the level of current bullshit?

That forum can get nasty. but thats why I made it. Let them rant and the rest of us can ignore it.
It spills out in the general OT from time to time and we have to kick them back in.
With the number of active members the forum has its still calmer that I would expect.

Care to report a thread or two?
Sounds...close nit...
Never said it was. I don't expect it to ever be. With over 2000 members and over 1000 of them active people will disagree. But its not stepping over a line where people are calling for mod help. It will happen some day and I'll add mods when it does.

I initially went to 3si to learn about my car...how to fix it. I stayed because of the community.
I know where/how to get the info I need (and having one of the best boyfriend/3S mechanics there is helps ), and I have a close nit community here.
What is 3sgtfo trying to be? If it's not trying to be a close nit community...especially with so many different members/personalities...is it simply a place to talk about the 3S? To buy/sell 3S parts?
If you're concerned about why people don't come...(but you seemingly have plenty of (active) members) ask yourself how your site is different than other 3S community sites.

I know what the differences are. But, is that enough.
I have done this long enough to know that what works for one person will not work for all. But a site that tries to be good at everything will not be able to do it.
I just want 3sgto to be the best 3s site. I know that if just do things my way I could miss important things. So I make sure to take time to ask. That way I can see if any of the issues that are raised are things that I can change.
The best advice I can offer Alan, is you and your mod team need to do your best to keep help/advice and repair threads as on topic as possible. Nothing is more frustrating than wading through a 20 page thread that wandered all over the place from the topic at hand.
That or finding threads that just say, search, i flippen hate that now when I am looking up something and just finding that as an answer.

It is good you ask.
What do you see the differences as?
3si - archive
3sgtfo - 'better' moderation
What else?
