Then again, you yanks say everything messed up! Cinema ends in an A. The way you lot say it, it ends in an R. If people here pronounced Bimmer, we'de get bashed. Well, not me. I'm huge!
Scotty
i think you mean theatre. We pronounce it "theater", but the olde english spelling is theatre.
I think you need to cut back on the bee-eh, scotty.

Even so...they are still pronounced the same way regardless of spelling

Where did that slang even come from? BMW != Bimmer
I don't like it.

No, they definitely don't.
Ask a british guy to say "Theatre" and ask an american to say "Theater"
There is most definitely an audible difference.
An american can't say Theatre properly, and a british guy won't say theater exactly like we do, but there is a bit of a difference.
It just got lost with time.
I know because my parents were raised with british english, and I with american english. I hear the difference all the time.

No no no! Americans pronounce alot of their words and finish with an R sound. We here in normal town say "sin-eh-ma" but when you hear an American say it, it's "sin-eh-mar" or "sin-eh-mer". Sorry, that's just how you sound. Maybe not you, but MOST Americans I hear. Say Nissan out loud. We say "ni-sen" but you jibberers say it like "knee-sahn". Another example would be the way you say Craig. My ex had me confused for ages (as she is in Miami. She would say it "Crag" (sounds like hag) but we say it "Crayg". (sounds like bay)

I would say Craig like "Creg"
I'm used to hearing things pronounced differently though. My best friend is English, and I'm around him and his family practically every day.

Could be. The southern accent is the most ridiculous sounding thing EVER. Sorry to anyone on here that has one, but it's just REALLY difficult to sound intelligent when you have that stuff coming out of your mouth. Actually, I don't like any of the accents here in the US. I can't stand the southern one, the NY/NJ one is just irritating, and the Wisconsin/Minnesota one makes me want to puncture my eardrums with a pencil. I don't know what 'accent' it is, but the one where people just talk normal is how I sound, haha. Like the people in California or Florida or some place like that. There is no twang or anything in the words, they just pronounce words how they're spelled

That is what I was thinking. He should listen to someone with a thick Wisconsin accent.

lol - Nissan is a Japanese word, not English, and it's much closer to "knee-sahn" than "ni-sen"
And yes, it sounds like you've been talking to Southerners.

Southerners as in Alabama? No, that accent is out there. And Nissan is an English word. What, you think it's made up?

Hahah, you just talk to the wrong people. Either people with a foreign accent, or southern accent (which is a very small minority of the overall population)
Knee-San
IS how you pronounce it. It's Japanese...you guys are pronouncing it wrong.
Even the Mexicans I know who barely speak english say "sin-eh-mah" just like the rest of us in Southern California which is a pretty good demgraphic for the entire country since we have such a mix of...well...everyone
