Yeah gotta find some tin snips to cut open the filter for confirmation. If it is gone I'll either do a reman long block or a JDM pre 06 EJ253

I have about $5k in it now. Reman would probably put me over $8k by the time you include incedentals. JDM would be about $6500 total.

It's like a boat. The 2 best days of ownership are the day you buy it and the day you sell it.
Granted Subaru has a 3rd one. The day you got it running.

I still debate on it. Mrs still really wants awd. I've tried telling her that her fwd soul with the tires she has is more than enough than she will ever need but she still wants awd eventually. She has the 4wd jeep, but she wants something safer. Subaru tends to get pretty good safety ratings.

Lots of cars have good safety ratings.

Why will she not drive her jeep when it does snow again?

She will drive it in the snow.
Awd daily for rain and going up to the mountain is what she wants. Afraid to drive the jeep more than a few miles. Won't take it to the mountains or coast.

It costs next to nothing to sit in the garage and use as a 3rd vehicle should something break down until we can afford a better 3rd vehicle.

I never understood that logic.. how about putting the money for a better 3rd vehicle into a better first vehicle that wont break down?

Eh. I understand it. We have a 3rd vehicle. It does come in handy. But his wife seems like me and wants a vehicle for every situation.
