Mine was an 89. My s10. I may still have the dash but the descriptions are hard to find. Not a big deal. It was a stripper truck with zero options.

Now it has everything except power windows and locks.




6 speed with the 3.42s would be great. That would def be my choice.

I am assuming the white one I looked at for sure has the 3.08, but am curious. That one that Jeff did for me saying 3.42 but the website says 3.08. So want to double check the white one for sure is a 3.08

Ask them to send you a photo of the SPID/RPO label. As long as it hasn't been tampered with, and the truck is factory stock, that'll tell you for sure.

If you know anyone at a GM dealer, they'll be able to pull it up. The Chevy dealer by my house was able to pull up that H3 I was looking at, even though I couldn't.

If it's a 6 speed don't be afraid of the 3.08. g80 would be a non issue for me. If it breaks... Get a good one. If it doesn't have one... No big deal

Since I don't need one right now I'm being super picky. There is a black 2013 with the 3. 42 and locker but has higher mileage for the year. 120k or so. Need to go test drive it though. Not sure how I feel about the dealership.

Just not sure about the dealership. Google reviews are either very negative or 5 star for the most part. Don't trust that many 5 star reviews when it comes to a car dealership.

With the baby engine 3.42s for sure.

As for that dealer... Probably be prepared with your own financing, give the truck a very thorough inspection, and go over the paperwork with a magnifying glass

Already pre-approved with my credit union. So that is not a problem. Just need to find a truck I like and feel confident in buying. If you look at the Carfax for that truck it has been for sale since October. Makes me think something is wrong with it since there that long.

I have a question for you.

Is it better to buy say that white one with 93k on it for $17k, then pay ~$3-4k to put 3.42 (or lower if putting a lift/tires) gears, new tires (it has blizzaks on it now) and a better locker in the rear, or to buy the black one with 120k on it for $19-20k which already has the 3.42 but might need the G80 replaced eventually?

That is also if the black one is in good shape. Haven't taken a look at it yet and the fact that is has been for sale since October makes me nervous. The white one is in good shape for the most part (passenger mirror has issues that I know of), has a ton of service records, 1 owner, looked over/being sold at a Chevy Dealer, etc.

In the end I would pay about the same.

400 hp 6.2L V8, AWD, low mileage, 3.42 gear, etc. Just not sure about AWD vs 4WD. 99% of the time AWD will be fine for me.

If I want to go really off-road I still have the XJ.

Trying to figure out if it is worth the premium for an Avalanche over say at nice F-150, Silverado, or Sierra of the same years. Either way looking at top level trim (leather, heated/cooled seats, back up camera, etc).

Just give me $25k for our 2010 LTZ with towing package and all the goodies with 70,000 miles on it. Not sure if I'm serious, but it is a thought... Probably close to time for a new truck for us.
